An Understated Dominance - Chapter 269
Dakota was taken aback when she recognized Dustin. He looked equally surprised to see her. Never did he expect that the two girls Dahlia had mentioned were related to him. What a small world!
“Oh, do you know each other?” Dahlia asked, glancing between them.
“Not just know each other,” Dakota snapped, her teeth clenched. “He’s the guy who beat us up yesterday!”
Everyone gasped in shock.
“Um, Dakota, are you sure it’s him?” Florence asked carefully.
“Of course! I’d know him anywhere! My mom probably has a headache from his slap!” Dakota was furious.
“Right! I must be sick because of that slap! Someone should arrest him!” Jane yelled from her bed, still angry about what happened.
“Dustin, why did you hit them?” Dahlia was confused about why he had a problem with Jane and Dakota.
“They deserved it,” Dustin replied simply. “They crashed into another car and almost hurt someone. But they acted like bullies, so I slapped them because I couldn’t take it anymore.”
“You brat! Do you know who they are? How dare you hit them?” Florence was furious to hear that Dustin had touched her two beloved girls.
“Don’t waste time talking to him! Call the police now!” Dakota fumed.
“No, wait!” Dahlia jumped in to stop them.
“This might be a misunderstanding. We shouldn’t blow this out of proportion. How about Dustin helps with Aunt Jane’s illness to make up for his mistake?”
“Hmph! We don’t need his help!” Jane spat on the ground. “Just look at how he behaves. What if he makes things worse? Who will take responsibility?”
“That works for me. I don’t want to treat you either,” Dustin said calmly. “By the way, remember what I told you before? Headaches on the first day, coughing up blood on the second, paralysis on the third, and a sudden death on the fourth. Today is the second day, so you won’t have to wait long before you start coughing up blood. After that, you’ll just have to leave your fate to God.”
“You’re a jinx! Stop talking nonsense!” Jane trembled with anger, and her headache grew worse.
“Did you hear him? How dare he curse my mom! This is an order—get him arrested! If you don’t, I’ll hold you responsible!” Dakota started shouting at everyone around.
Florence’s face fell, and she yelled at Dustin, “Dustin Rhys! Apologize to them now! If you don’t, I won’t go easy on you!”
“Apologize? They don’t deserve it,” Dustin laughed. “If anything, they should apologize to me. If they do, I might think about helping your mother.”
“That’s ridiculous! Who do you think you are? You can’t treat my mom!” Jane shouted.
“Exactly! We can hire any good doctor we want! We don’t need you showing off!” Dakota added.
Jane and Dakota were being stubborn. They believed someone like Dustin had no right to help them.
“Keep being stubborn. I hope you don’t end up begging me later,” Dustin said with a chuckle, shaking his head.
“Beg you? What a joke!” Jane replied angrily.
Dahlia sneered, “Even if I had a terrible headache or felt so much pain that I wanted to jump off a building, I still wouldn’t give in to you!”
“Okay. We’ll see,” Dustin replied before leaving. Dahlia frowned as he walked away, but after a moment’s thought, she decided to chase after him.
Once they were gone, James rushed in with an old man wearing a cloak. “Mom! The skilled doctor you wanted is here!”
Florence quickly asked, “The skilled doctor? Where is he?”
James stepped aside to reveal the cloaked man. “This is Dr. Fenton Reyes from the Bloomington Medical Center in Stonia. He’s a veteran in his field and comes from a line of royal physicians! His skills are legendary!”
“Royal physicians?” Florence asked in surprise.
