An Understated Dominance - Chapter 272
“Once my mom is better, we’ll finally talk about everything that’s happened!” Dakota said sharply, her eyes blazing with anger.
“Go ahead,” Dustin replied with a casual shrug.
“You!” Dakota said, her voice tight. She was grinding her teeth so hard that the sound was noticeable, but she felt powerless to act. Just then, a loud commotion erupted near the hospital entrance, and they both looked up to see a military motorcade pushing its way through.
The motorcade was an impressive sight. Soldiers sat on top, armed and giving off a menacing vibe. People and cars quickly moved aside to let them pass.
“That’s odd. What’s the military doing here? Are they after someone?” Dahlia wondered, looking around in confusion.
Dakota nodded, equally puzzled.
Suddenly, the commander shouted, “Quick, surround them!”
The soldiers jumped off the motorcade and quickly formed a circle around Dustin and the two women. The sight of the guns pointed at them sent a chill down their spines.
“What?” Dahlia gasped, her face going pale. She had expected to watch something exciting, not to be surrounded by guards.
“Don’t worry. This has nothing to do with you. They’re here for me,” Dustin said, scanning the soldiers. He already had a plan.
“They’re here to arrest you? Why?” Dahlia asked, shocked.
She couldn’t understand what crime Dustin could have committed to warrant such a military response.
“It’s just a minor issue. Nothing to worry about,” Dustin said with a calm smile.
“A minor issue?” Dahlia frowned, still confused.
The military was here for Dustin, and he still thought it was a small issue?
“Dustin, you committed murder in broad daylight! We are ordered to arrest you and bring you to justice! If you resist, you will be killed!” the commander said, his expression cold.
Dahlia felt a chill at the commander’s threatening presence. “Commander, is there some kind of misunderstanding?” she asked carefully.
“Anyone not involved needs to step aside immediately! If you don’t, you’ll face the same charges!” the commander replied harshly.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be fine. You should go home,” Dustin said, placing a reassuring hand on Dahlia’s shoulder and smiling gently.
“I—” Dahlia started, unsure of what to say.
How could this huge situation be nothing at all?
But there was nothing she could do to help right now.
“Rhys, I bet you never thought this day would come!” Dakota suddenly laughed, enjoying Dustin’s trouble. “You must have done something really bad to bring the military here. Here’s your chance: if you cure my mother’s illness and apologize to me, I’ll help you.”
