An Understated Dominance - Chapter 276
Each crack of the burly man’s whips echoed loudly, reaching ears from miles away. Jade laughed mockingly at the sound and said, “He’s doing a great job!” Dustin had been so obnoxious the night before, barging into the Hummer Villa and defeating their men. She needed to make him pay for it!
“Jade, you must be exaggerating when you say this brat is hard to deal with,” said the round-faced man with a scoff. “Look, he’s just a prisoner with his life in my hands.”
“He’s a very powerful martial artist, just so you know,” Jade replied. “There were several people at the Hummer Villa last night, but none could stand against him.” She still felt shaken by what had happened.
“Ha! No matter how powerful he is, he’s still just a martial artist. Do you really think he can withstand my troops?” The round-faced man sneered. “Over the years, the military has captured many famous martial artists. They all eventually bowed to the military’s authority.”
“I guess you’re right,” Jade agreed. The martial world was separate from the government, but it wasn’t organized. How could it compete with the authorities?
While they talked, the burly man kept whipping Dustin. Each crack was loud, but Dustin didn’t flinch. Instead, the whip broke under the impact. “What the hell?” the burly man exclaimed, shocked. The whip had been specially made to withstand blades and fire, so why did it break against him? Was Dustin somehow stronger than he appeared?
The burly man stared at Dustin, confusion growing. He had whipped Dustin several times already, but it seemed like the punishment had no effect at all.
Dustin had been whipped at least a dozen times, yet he looked completely fine. His clothes were torn, but he had no injuries at all. It was as if the whips had never touched him.
“What the hell?” The burly man, who was used to this kind of work, started sweating nervously. He had never faced a situation like this before.
“Why has the whipping stopped?” the round-faced man finally noticed something was wrong.
“The whip broke, sir,” the burly man said, swallowing hard.
“Get another one! Don’t stop until you finish the 50 whips!” the round-faced man shouted angrily.
“Yes, sir!” The burly man rushed to find another steel whip and began whipping Dustin again as if his life depended on it. But soon, the second whip broke just like the first.
“What in the world…” The burly man couldn’t believe what he saw. Breaking one whip could be a coincidence, but breaking two felt like a bad sign. He started to think there was something about Dustin that made him impossible to hurt.
“Why have you stopped again? Keep going!” the round-faced man urged, growing impatient.
“Sir, the whip broke again,” the burly man said, looking conflicted.
“What? How useless can you be? I’ll do it myself!” the round-faced man shouted. He ordered a soldier to bring him another whip and stormed over to Dustin. He started whipping him without hesitation, but after just a few swings, the whip shattered too.
At that moment, Dustin, who had been lying there with his eyes closed, opened them and asked, “Are you done? If you are, can I get something to eat? I’m feeling a little hungry.”
