An Understated Dominance - Chapter 278
“Are those chains strong enough to hold him? He seems more powerful than he looks. What if he breaks free?” Jade asked, her voice filled with concern.
“Don’t worry. Our chains are made of darksteel and can handle any force. Not even an elephant could break free, let alone a human. Now that he’s bound, he can’t escape without the key!” replied the round-faced man confidently. He had seen many powerful martial artists, and none had managed to break the darksteel chains.
“Well, that’s good to hear,” Jade said, feeling a little relieved. But just as she spoke, she heard the sound of chains snapping. She turned to look at Dustin, who had only stretched, yet the chains lay in pieces around his feet.
“What the heck?” The round-faced man was so shocked that he dropped his pastry. Jade was equally bewildered. What had happened to the chains being unbreakable? How could Dustin have shattered them so easily? The round-faced man quickly regained his composure and shouted, “Surround him!”
At his command, the armed soldiers rushed over and surrounded Dustin. He seemed completely unfazed. “Relax, I just want to eat,” he said as he sat on the floor and began munching on the food laid out for him.
The round-faced man stared at him in disbelief. What was this kid capable of? How could he stay so calm with so many guns aimed at him?
Once Dustin finished his meal, he was chained up again. This time, there were twice as many chains, making him look like a taco. Still, the round-faced man didn’t let his guard down. He ordered his men to keep a close watch on Dustin at all times.
If he made any wrong moves, he would be shot immediately.
After a while, a military Jeep drove onto the base and stopped at the drill ground. A thin, middle-aged man stepped out slowly. Even though he was skinny, his presence was intimidating, and his eyes were piercing.
Jade felt her mind go blank as she locked eyes with him. It was as if she had encountered a wild animal ready to attack, and a wave of fear washed over her.
“Mr. Bloodbeast!” called out a round-faced man, hurrying forward with a big smile. “I’m sorry for not welcoming you properly. It’s great to see you here.”
“Let’s get straight to the point, General Jenkins. I’m bored, and I need some excitement. Where’s the tough guy you mentioned?” Bloodbeast wasted no time.
“Right here! He’s tied to the pillar,” the round-faced man said, pointing at Dustin.
Bloodbeast looked in Dustin’s direction, squinting as he studied him. “Strange. He looks familiar.”
“Oh? What a coincidence! If he’s familiar to you, it must be fate that you two meet. I just hope you give him a memorable experience, Mr. Bloodbeast.” The round-faced man smiled, but it was a sinister smile.
Bloodbeast chuckled. “Of course! It’ll be my pleasure, and I’ll be doing what I enjoy. I hope he lives up to my expectations.” He reached into a canvas bag and poured out its contents.
A variety of strange-looking torture instruments spilled out. Most people would never see these tools in their lifetime. Only those in the Ministry of Penalties would understand their meaning—the more delicate they looked, the worse the pain they could inflict.
