An Understated Dominance - Chapter 280
General Jenkins stood tall and proudly announced, “I am the Deputy General of the White Tiger Army, serving under Chief General Spanner. Whoever that guy is, I can take him down easily. Just wait and see!”
Just after he spoke, his phone rang loudly. He answered the call. “Hello, General Jenkins. This is Hunter Anderson. You’ve captured someone you shouldn’t have. Let him go now, and you might still save yourself.”
“Who do you think you are? Don’t tell me what to do! Get lost!” General Jenkins shouted before hanging up.
“Looks like someone is begging for Dustin’s life,” Jade said with a smirk. She had expected this would happen.
“Hmph, they think they can take him from me? Not a chance!” General Jenkins said, tightening his lips. With the support of the Grant family, he felt untouchable in the Southern province.
Just then, his phone rang again. “General Jenkins, this is someone from the Harmon family. One of my associates was captured by your team. I believe there’s been a misunderstanding. Please release him.”
“That’s not happening! Dustin’s crimes are serious. I’ve already sent him to the Ministry of Penalties. No one can save him now!” Jenkins replied firmly.
But the calls kept coming. After the second call, the third rang in, then the fourth, and the fifth. They just wouldn’t stop.
“Hello, General Jenkins, this is Roderick Brooks—”
“General Jenkins, I’m calling for the Glenstead Nicholson family—”
“Jenkins, I have a favor to ask…” More calls kept flooding in, and not only were there more of them, but the urgency in each voice was rising.
The situation was getting more urgent. At first, General Jenkins felt annoyed, but soon even officers of the same rank were calling him, begging for mercy. While he wasn’t afraid, it was becoming quite a hassle.
Finally, he switched off his phone. He was done dealing with it.
“Wow, I didn’t realize you had such a strong network. I underestimated you,” he said, looking up with a cold smile. “But it won’t matter. I can handle this all by myself!”
“Oh, really? I’m curious to see you try,” Dustin replied with a light smile.
“Hmph. I want to see what tricks you have up your sleeve,” General Jenkins said with a sneer.
Just then, an officer rushed in. “General, the Murray family is here!”
“The Murray family? Who’s that?” General Jenkins asked, raising an eyebrow in surprise.
“He introduced himself as Adjutant General Damon. He wants to speak with you,” the officer explained.
“Adjutant General Damon? What’s he doing here?” The general’s expression turned serious, and he looked a bit worried. While others might not understand, he knew that Adjutant General Damon was Christopher’s personal guard.
And who was Christopher? He was the second-in-command general of this generation and a key figure in the Murray family. Even though he had been discharged, his influence in the army remained strong. General Jenkins wouldn’t hesitate to show respect, even to Christopher’s dog.
After a brief moment of silence, General Jenkins decided to go outside and greet Adjutant General Damon. “Let’s go see what this is about,” he said.
As he and his men approached the entrance of the base, they spotted a casually dressed middle-aged man wearing glasses. At first glance, he seemed like an ordinary person, but his sharp eyes reminded them of an eagle’s.
“Well, if it isn’t Adjutant General Damon! What brings you here?” General Jenkins said with a smile, stepping forward to make small talk. Before he could say anything more, Adjutant General Damon raised his hand and quickly slapped him to the ground.
