An Understated Dominance - Chapter 291
“Great job! Great job, indeed!” Edwin laughed heartily. “This Substratumis may cost a lot, but it’s worth every penny!”
As he continued to chuckle, another bodyguard rushed into the room, looking worried. “Sir, we have bad news from home!” The guard dropped to his knees, crying.
“What is it?” Edwin asked, frowning.
“We just got word from Swinton that Hummer Villa was attacked last night. All our fighters are dead, and Ms. Hummer and Mr. Hummer were both killed. The Hummer family is gone!”
Edwin felt as if he had been struck by lightning. The Substratumis slipped from his grasp and shattered on the floor.
“Son!” he cried out in despair, collapsing to the ground.
He stayed there for what felt like an eternity. When he finally managed to stand, he looked worn and aged, as if ten years had passed in an instant.
“Get ready. I want to go to Boulderthorn’s branch right now!” Edwin said fiercely. With his children gone, he had nothing left to lose. His only focus was on avenging them, no matter the cost!
An hour later, in the meeting room at Boulderthorn’s branch.
“What? Joshua was killed?” A man in a green shirt jumped up, furious. “Who dares to touch someone from Boulderthorn?”
“It was Natasha Harmon and a man named Dustin Rhys!” Edwin growled.
The man in green scowled. “How dare they challenge us! They must want to die! Gather our men. We must avenge Joshua!”
“Yes, sir!” the others replied.
The Boulderthorn disciples quickly left to follow orders. Soon, the entire branch was on the move. Boulderthorn had hundreds of thousands of disciples throughout the region, ready to take action.
Balerno was known for producing the most skilled martial artists, and this branch stood out because its mentor was the guildmaster of Boulderthorn. Boulderthorn had four branch leaders, eight guildmasters, and thirty-six second-in-commands. Among them, the guildmasters held the most power. With a single command, they could direct thousands of disciples. However, the guildmasters often clashed with one another, which made them fiercely protective of their own disciples. So, when someone was in trouble, everyone rushed to help.
Joshua was the most talented disciple in Boulderthorn and had earned the head guildmaster’s affection. His sudden death sent shockwaves through the guild. If Boulderthorn didn’t take action to avenge him, their reputation—especially that of this branch—would suffer.
Edwin felt a sense of relief as he watched the other guild disciples working hard in their efforts. Without saying anything further, he got back into his car and drove toward the Grants’ home.
No matter who was responsible for Jade’s disappearance, Edwin was determined to blame Dustin. He knew that the Grants wouldn’t let Dustin off the hook easily. With Boulderthorn and the Grants joining forces, even the Harmon family, one of the richest families around, wouldn’t stand a chance. When the moment came, the Harmon family would likely make Natasha take the fall.
As for Dustin, he was an easy target for the Boulderthorn disciples.
“My dear son, I will avenge you soon,” Edwin vowed solemnly.
