An Understated Dominance - Chapter 290
“What?” Joshua stared in shock at his sister’s lifeless body. He never imagined Dustin could be so cruel, killing without a second thought.
“Anything else you want to say?” Dustin asked calmly.
“P-please don’t kill me! I’m sorry!” Joshua fell to his knees, pleading. “I was foolish to anger you. Please forgive me. I promise I won’t go against you again!”
“You had your chance, but you didn’t take it.” Dustin’s expression was cold and unsympathetic.
“N-no, I promise I will! Just let me go. I’ll do anything! I swear!” Joshua begged, banging his forehead against the floor. He knew he couldn’t beat Dustin, especially not when he was at his strongest. To Dustin, killing Joshua would be as easy as squashing a bug.
“I’m pretty sure that’s not what you said earlier,” Dustin sneered. “Didn’t you say you would make me suffer like never before once you recovered?”
“N-no! I would never say that!” Joshua shook his head, panic rising in his voice.
“Where’s Edwin?” Dustin asked, his patience wearing thin. He had searched the whole villa, but Edwin Hummer was nowhere to be found.
“I-I don’t know! I heard my dad went to Millsburg for medicine, but I don’t know anything else!” Joshua cried.
“Millsburg, huh? Lucky for him,” Dustin muttered, feeling frustrated that Edwin had escaped.
“Are you looking for my dad? D-don’t worry! I’ll let you know as soon as he gets back! I’ll be your loyal servant from now on,” Joshua said, forcing a weak smile.
Dustin scoffed. “You would betray your own father? You’re worse than an animal.” He slowly raised his hand, revealing a silver needle.
“No! You can’t kill me! My mentor is the—”
Joshua was the master of Boulderthorn, and his fiancée was the third daughter of the Grants. “If you kill me, you’ll become their enemy,” he shouted, his voice filled with rage. “People will keep hunting you down, and you’ll have to live in fear for the rest of your life!”
Dustin, however, remained calm. “You should have thought about that when you kidnapped Natasha. I don’t care about the Grants or Boulderthorn. You’re going to die today.” With a quick flick of his finger, he shot a silver needle that struck Joshua right between the eyes.
“No!” Joshua cried out, his voice echoing in despair as life slipped away from him.
The next morning in Millsburg, Edwin woke up suddenly from a nightmare, drenched in sweat. He felt uneasy, as if something bad was about to happen. Just as he prepared to escape, a tall figure entered his room silently.
“Who are you?” he yelled in shock.
“I’m the one who’s going to kill you,” the figure replied coolly. As the moonlight illuminated the room, Edwin recognized the person.
“It’s you! W—w—weren’t you arrested? How did you get out?” Edwin stammered, backing away in fear. Just that morning, he had received a message from Tina saying the military had captured Dustin. How could he be free so quickly?
“Any last words?” Dustin asked coldly.
Tina, who had just arrived, threatened, “You better not mess around, Rhys! We have Boulderthorn and the Grants’ protection. If you touch—”
Before she could finish her sentence, Dustin flicked his wrist, and a silver needle pierced her forehead. She twitched and then collapsed to the ground, lifeless.
“What?” Joshua gasped, staring at his sister’s body in disbelief.
Joshua was in shock. He never imagined Dustin could be so cruel, taking a life without hesitation.
“Is there anything else you want to say?” Dustin asked calmly.
“P–please don’t kill me!” Joshua fell to his knees. “I was foolish to offend you. Please forgive me. I promise I won’t go against you again!”
“You had your chance, but you didn’t take it,” Dustin replied, showing no sympathy.
“N–no, I do! I promise! Please! I’m still young. I don’t want to die! Just let me go, and I’ll do anything you want. I swear!” Joshua pleaded, banging his forehead against the floor. He knew he stood no chance against Dustin, especially now. For Dustin, killing him would be as easy as squashing an ant.
“I thought you said you would make me suffer when you got better,” Dustin sneered.
“N–no! I didn’t mean that!” Joshua shook his head wildly. “I would never dare!”
“Where’s Edwin?” Dustin demanded, his patience wearing thin. He had searched the entire villa but couldn’t find Edwin Hummer.
“I—I don’t know! I heard my dad went to Millsburg for medicine, but I have no clue where he is,” Joshua cried.
“Edwin’s in Millsburg, huh? Lucky him,” Dustin replied, feeling frustrated that Edwin had escaped.
“Are you looking for my dad? D–don’t worry! I’ll let you know as soon as he gets home! I’ll be your loyal servant from now on,” Joshua said, forcing a weak smile.
Dustin scoffed. “You’re willing to betray your own father? You’re worse than an animal.” He slowly raised his hand, revealing a silver needle.
“No! You can’t kill me! My mentor is the master of Boulderthorn, and my fiancée is the—”
Grants’ third daughter. “If you kill me, you’ll make enemies for life. People will always be after you, and you’ll live in fear,” Joshua shouted, his eyes wide with rage.
“You should have thought about that when you kidnapped Natasha. I don’t care about the Grants or Boulderthorn. You’re going to die today,” Dustin replied coldly.
He flicked his finger, and a silver needle struck Joshua right between the eyes.
“No!” Joshua cried out, his voice echoing around him as he took his last breath.
The next morning, in a mansion in Millsburg, Edwin woke up suddenly from a nightmare, drenched in sweat. His sleep had been troubled, a sense of dread hanging over him.
“Sir Hummer!” One of his bodyguards rushed into the room, filled with excitement. “We finally got Dr. Watkins’ Substratumis! With this, Mr. Hummer will finally recover!”
“Great! Show me!” Edwin’s face brightened, his worries fading away.
The guard opened a jade box to reveal a shining, milky white pill that gave off a sweet, calming scent.
