An Understated Dominance - Chapter 293
with me?” Dustin asked, looking annoyed.
Dakota’s frustration boiled over. “It has everything to do with you! You’re the only one who can help her!”
Dustin crossed his arms, unimpressed. “Why should I care? You treated me like dirt before.”
“Please! Just this once, I’m begging you!” Dakota pleaded. “I know you can save her. You have to!”
Dustin hesitated, remembering how Dakota had treated him in the past. But then he thought about her mother. “Fine. But let’s go quickly,” he finally agreed.
Meanwhile, back at the Harmon family house, Jessica was pacing the floor, her mind racing.
“Istrid, hurry up! We need to send that letter now!” Jessica urged again, her voice sharp.
Istrid felt torn. She didn’t want to betray Dustin, especially after he had been hurt for Natasha. “But Madam, what if—” she started to say.
“Enough!” Jessica snapped. “If we don’t act now, Natasha will be in danger. You know this is the only way.”
Reluctantly, Istrid nodded and got to work.
Outside, Dakota and Dustin jumped into the BMW and sped toward the hospital. “You better know what you’re doing,” Dakota said, glancing at him nervously.
“I always do,” Dustin replied, focusing on the road ahead.
As they drove, Dakota felt a mix of hope and fear. Would Dustin really be able to help her mother in time?
“Are you coming with me?” Dakota asked, her voice firm.
Dustin shrugged, not surprised at her attitude. “She wouldn’t be sick if you hadn’t slapped her,” she added, sounding arrogant.
Dustin chuckled and shook his head. “Wow, so a slap makes someone terminally ill? Your mother really is something else.”
“Stop joking around. I’m giving you a chance to make things right. Come with me to the hospital and help save my mother!” Dakota ordered.
“Sorry, but I don’t care,” Dustin said flatly.
“What?” Dakota frowned. “How can you refuse? Do you even know what will happen if you do?”
“Nope,” Dustin replied, shaking his head.
Dakota huffed, clearly frustrated. “If you refuse, you’ll offend the Glenstead Nicholsons. If I can get you out of jail, I can definitely put you back in.”
“Sounds like I owe you my freedom, then?” Dustin said, amused.
“Do you really think I would have saved you if Dahlia hadn’t begged me to?” Dakota shot back. “You should be thankful. Since I helped you, it’s time for you to return the favor. I need you to help save my mother!”
“I have no idea where you get the confidence to say all that,” Dustin snorted. “If you’re going to keep that attitude, I can’t help you. Please leave.”
Dakota came to ask for a favor, but she acted like she was in charge. Who did she think she was, expecting him to be grateful for her demands?
