“What now?” Dakota paused and turned around, feeling impatient. “You haven’t paid yet. This medicine is valuable. Just give me ten million,” Dustin said casually.

“What? A bottle like this costs ten million dollars? You might as well rob a bank!” Dakota shouted, furious.

“This is clearly easier than robbing a bank. If it’s too expensive, you can always return it,” Dustin replied, reaching for the bottle.

“You’re unbelievable!” Dakota clenched her teeth and wrote a ten-million-dollar check before storming out. She promised herself that she would make Dustin pay after her mother got better.

Half an hour later, she arrived at the hospital. When she entered the ward, she saw a group of doctors standing together, shaking their heads and sighing. Her mother, Jane, was lying in bed, unable to move.

“You’re back, Dakota!” Florence rushed over and asked, “How did it go? Did he have a solution? If not, we’ll have to find Dr. Cross.”

“He gave me a bottle of pills and said Mom would be fine after taking them for a month,” Dakota said, pulling out the bottle. She poured out a small, black pill that looked ordinary and smelled musty.

“This can heal her?” Florence stared in disbelief. Instead of the miracle cure she expected, all she saw was a tiny, unappealing pill.

“That’s what he said,” Dakota replied, nodding.

“Ms. Nicholson,” a bald doctor suddenly spoke up. “Your mother’s life is at risk. The best option right now is to perform a craniotomy, not listen to some quack.”

“You can’t even figure out what’s wrong with her, and you want to perform surgery? How is that not murder?” Dakota snapped back.

“What a fool,” the bald doctor muttered, shaking his head as he looked at Dakota. “Why would we need doctors if medicine could cure everything?”

“Exactly! I’d do anything if it works!” another doctor chimed in.

Ignoring their comments, Dakota took the pill and placed it in her mother’s mouth. It melted quickly, and soon Jane felt a rush of energy throughout her body.

A few moments later, Jane started coughing, her face turning red. “What is this? It tastes awful!” she exclaimed, sitting up to gargle with a cup of water nearby.

“Mom, you can move again?” Dakota paused, then her face lit up with joy.

“Huh?” Jane stopped, swallowing the water she had just gargled, before jumping up excitedly. “Oh my! I can move again!”

“Who said they’d do something ridiculous? Step forward right now!” Dakota glared at the doctors, leaving them speechless.
