An Understated Dominance - Chapter 312
“Listen up, everyone! After I kicked this traitor out, he felt brave enough to come back and challenge me. Since the official battle hasn’t started yet, I’ll do some warm-ups to entertain you all,” Luther announced loudly. He wanted to make a statement to discourage any future traitors and restore his reputation.
Ralph, Abby, and a few others approached Dustin, looking confused. “Why is your friend up there in the ring?” Ralph asked.
Dustin shrugged. “He’s settling a personal grudge.”
“A personal grudge?” Abby raised an eyebrow. “Do you even know who that guy is? He’s Mr. Williams from Boulderthorn! He may not be as great as Tatum, but he’s pretty good! He’s at the same level as my grandpa!”
“So?” Dustin replied, not impressed.
“How can your friend fight Mr. Williams with his average skills? He’ll just get crushed!” Abby shook her head.
Ralph nodded in agreement. “Yeah, I think you should talk him out of it. Even I might struggle against Mr. Williams, and I’m older!”
“There’s no way to convince him. They’re meant to fight today. Their fates are in God’s hands,” Dustin said firmly.
“You should listen to your elders, or you might regret it,” Ralph advised, putting his hands behind his back, as if he had seen it all before. But Dustin just smiled.
In the ring, Luther looked at Maximus with a smirk. “You picked the hard path, didn’t you? If you’re looking for death, I can give it to you!”
“Bring it on!” Maximus replied, showing no fear.
“You think you’re a piece of cake!” Luther shouted as he slowly pulled out his sword. With a quick leap, he ran toward his opponent, Maximus. As he got closer, Luther’s sword began to tremble in his hand. Suddenly, the air around them filled with illusions of the sword, making it hard for everyone watching to tell what was real.
“He’s using the Illusory Sword Technique!” someone in the crowd exclaimed. “What a surprise! That’s the technique that made him famous! He clearly wants to end this quickly.”
“Poor guy! Mr. William’s Illusory Sword Technique is unpredictable and tough to defend against. Even I couldn’t block those moves,” another voice chimed in.
The crowd buzzed with excitement.
With a grunt, Maximus drew his sword and held it in one hand. He mimicked Luther’s movements and launched his own attack.
Soon, the two were locked in an intense battle. Their swords and the illusions created a dazzling display of sparks and clashing metal.
“Hah! I taught you all your moves, and now you’re trying to use them against me! How ridiculous! Now, let me show you the third move you’ve never mastered!” Luther taunted. He swung his sword back, aiming for Maximus’ abdomen. This was the same move he had used to defeat Maximus before. Luther was sure that Maximus wouldn’t be able to defend against it again.
Then, they heard the sound of the blade slicing through flesh. Suddenly, Luther froze. Just inches away from Maximus, he realized that Maximus had pierced his arm with his own sword, stopping Luther’s attack.
“How is that possible?” Luther gasped, his confidence shattered. He had never expected Maximus to defend himself and counterattack so effectively. How could Maximus have figured this out in just a few days?
