An Understated Dominance - Chapter 330
After sending Natasha home, Dustin returned to Peaceful Medical Center. Meanwhile, a black vehicle quietly parked nearby. A group of masked assassins in black outfits stepped out and approached the building, each holding a silenced gun. They moved silently and worked together to surround the medical center, blocking all entrances.
“Forward,” the leader signaled, and the men on his left nodded. Just as they were about to break in, the door creaked open, revealing a warm, yellow light from inside.
“Since you’re already here, there’s no need to sneak around. Please, come in,” a cold voice called from within.
The assassins exchanged glances. Peering through the door, they saw Dustin calmly sipping a drink in a chair, with a simple meal laid out on the table. He showed no signs of fear about the danger that approached him.
“What? Do I need to invite you in personally?” Dustin asked again.
The group looked at each other. Leaving one man outside as a lookout, the rest cautiously entered with their guns raised, finally revealing themselves. A few checked the area to ensure it was safe before they relaxed a little.
“How did you discover us?” the leader asked, confused. After years in this line of work, he had never encountered someone so calm, even with a gun pointed at them.
“You’ve been following me for half an hour. I’d have to be blind not to notice,” Dustin replied with a faint smile.
Dustin poured himself another drink and asked, “So, who sent you? The Hummers or the Langfords?”
“Does it matter? You’ll be dead anyway,” the leader replied coldly, feeling uneasy under Dustin’s intense stare.
“If I’m going to die, I should at least know who gave the orders, right?” Dustin slowly looked up.
“You want the truth? Go ask the devil himself!” The leader was done with the small talk. He aimed his gun at Dustin and pulled the trigger. Conversations weren’t welcome in their line of work.
Two muffled gunshots echoed in the room. One bullet was aimed at Dustin’s head, the other at his chest. Even divine intervention couldn’t save him from those deadly shots.
But just as it seemed Dustin was doomed, something unbelievable happened. The bullets stopped just inches from their target, frozen in mid-air.
“What?” the assassin gasped in shock. Two more muffled shots rang out, but this time, the outcome was different.
Meanwhile, Natasha nodded silently, understanding the situation.
“Let’s go. I’ll take you home,” Dustin said, forcing a smile. He had felt good earlier, but meeting Dahlia had spoiled his mood and left him with a heavy feeling in his heart.
After Dustin drove away with Natasha, Luis and a young man with white hair stepped out of the shadows.
“Mr. Langford, it looks like there’s something going on between your fiancée and that Dustin guy,” the young man teased with a laugh.
“Hmph! He’s just an ant. He must be crazy to think he can steal my woman,” Luis replied, his face dark with anger.
“Leave it to me, Mr. Langford. I’ll make sure he disappears tonight!” the young man grinned, confident in his ability to take care of things. As Luis’s right-hand man, he was very skilled at dealing with problems like this.
