An Understated Dominance - Chapter 339
“But—” Dahlia wanted to say more. “Just go. I’ll be distracted if you’re here,” Dustin interrupted her. With no other choice, Dahlia nodded in agreement. There was no turning back now.
Dahlia was willing to give up everything and travel the world with Dustin, as long as he returned safely.
Once Dahlia left, Dustin looked around and focused on the Nicholson family. “What are you waiting for? Hurry up and leave!” he shouted.
Dakota and Jane exchanged glances before quickly turning to leave. Dahlia’s broken promise had caused a rift between the Langfords and the Nicholsons. If the Nicholsons stayed any longer, they might face serious trouble.
“What a disaster! Look at what you’ve done!” Florence shouted angrily before storming off.
With the wedding ruined, the Nicholsons’ dreams of a wealthy, comfortable life were shattered. More importantly, they had angered the Langford family. Their lives would never be the same.
At that moment, Luis’ fourth uncle, Kingston Langford, stood up and said coldly, “You’ve got guts, young man. No one has ever humiliated us in public before. You’re the first, and you’ll be the last! Honestly, I admire your courage. But today is the day you die!”
As he spoke, he made a hand gesture.
Suddenly, a large group of armed guards rushed in from all directions and surrounded Dustin, leaving him with no way to escape.
“This is bad. Mr. Kingston is serious. That kid is in big trouble.”
Dustin boldly took the bride away, making Mr. Luis turn red with anger. No matter how many lives he had, it wouldn’t be enough to make up for what he had done.
“Well, he only has himself to blame,” someone said.
The guests whispered to each other as they watched Dustin caught in the middle of the chaos.
Kingston, with a calm expression, said, “If you let go of Luis now, I’ll let you walk away unharmed.”
Dustin looked around confidently, showing no fear. “Are you trying to scare me just because you have more people?”
“Exactly,” Kingston replied.
“Alright then! Let’s see who has more people!” Dustin said as he pulled out his phone and made a call.
Five minutes later, the door of the banquet hall swung open. Mason burst in, followed by hundreds of gangsters.
“Mason Zims from the Drey Group is here, sent by Mr. Rhys!” he announced.
Everyone was momentarily stunned, then they erupted in laughter.
“Is this a joke? You think this gang of thugs can fight us?” one of them scoffed.
“What a clueless person! You really overestimate yourself!” another added.
The guards with Kingston wore smug expressions, unable to believe that some random thugs would dare challenge the Langford family.
“Hey, Rhys! Are you serious? Do you think you can win against us with this bunch of small fry?” Luis laughed loudly.
But his laughter quickly faded when another group of people entered the hall.
Leading the group was Hunter.
“The president of the Chamber of Commerce, Hunter Anderson, is here to support Mr. Rhys!” he declared.
Moments later, yet another group appeared, and the series of arrivals continued on.
“The chief inspector of the investigation bureau, Aspen Cruiser, is here to help Mr. Rhys!”
“Roderick Brooks from the Brooks Corporation is ready to do everything he can for Mr. Rhys!”
“The mayor of Swinton, Alex Granville, is committed to staying by Mr. Rhys’s side until the end!”
As each group entered one after another, the laughter aimed at Dustin slowly faded away. It was replaced by shock and fear.
