An Understated Dominance - Chapter 347
Dahlia shook her head in disbelief. “Mr. Langford, please don’t blame us for anything. We would never blame you!”
“Really! Get up, Mr. Langford. You’re bleeding a lot! I’ll get a Band-Aid!” Florence hurried to the bedroom to find the first-aid kit.
“A Band-Aid?” Luis couldn’t believe it. He had severed two fingers! What good would a Band-Aid do?
“Maybe you should go to the hospital, Mr. Langford. Your bleeding isn’t stopping,” Dahlia suggested gently.
“Have you forgiven me, Ms. Nicholson?” Luis asked, hopeful.
“I suppose so. Just promise not to bother me anymore, and we’re good,” Dahlia replied with a nod.
“Great! I’ll stay out of your way from now on!” Luis said, feeling relieved. He nodded at both Dustin and Dahlia as a way of saying sorry before he hurried off with his men.
“Hey, Mr. Langford! Don’t forget your Band-Aid!” Florence called out, waving the bandage, but Luis didn’t look back. If anything, he started walking faster.
“Dahlia Nicholson, just wait! I’m not finished with you yet!” Dakota saw things weren’t going her way and decided to leave too. The whole situation was strange. Why had the famous Mr. Langford apologized to Dahlia? And he even knelt down! It was hard to believe and made no sense. Dakota needed to find out what was going on. “Dahlia, what happened with Luis Langford? Has he lost his mind?” she asked as soon as they were alone. Florence was just as curious. To her, there had to be a reason for all this.
middle of all this chaos, it seems like Luis has really lost it. Why else would he apologize to them? He even went as far as to hurt himself! What kind of person would do that unless they weren’t in their right mind?
“I don’t know either,” Dahlia said, shaking her head. Her eyes quickly turned to Dustin. “Did you do something?”
“Honestly, I didn’t do anything. Luis got on the wrong side of someone important, and now he has to make up for it,” Dustin replied with a shrug.
“Is that true?” Dahlia was skeptical. Dustin had told her before that he could help her if she got into trouble, and now he seemed to have sorted things out. It was hard for her to believe there wasn’t more going on. “Okay, I’ll admit it; I know someone influential.” Realizing he couldn’t keep it a secret any longer, Dustin decided to share.
“Remember the guy I had dinner with the other night? He’s from the powerful Spanner family, way more important than Luis Langford. He’s the one who helped me.”
“Mr. Spanner?” Dahlia quickly thought of Adam Spanner.
“How do you know someone so significant?” she asked, raising an eyebrow.
“I helped him out in the past, so now he’s just returning the favor,” Dustin chuckled.
Adam had been a sickly kid, often bullied. Dustin had stood up for him against the arrogant kids of Stonia, earning himself the nickname “vile demon” for his trouble.
“I never would have guessed you were connected to someone like that. Why didn’t I know this before?” Dahlia asked, intrigued.
“These are old stories. There’s no reason to bring them up now,” Dustin said, shaking his head.
“Okay, I won’t dig into your past any further. But in the midst of all this…”
“Please, don’t act too quickly,” Dahlia said seriously. “It’s not every day you get help from someone like him. If you keep bothering Mr. Spanner, he might not want to help you anymore. You need to be able to stand on your own.”
“I’m fine, really. I know what I’m doing,” Dustin replied with a smile.
Just then, a hunched, middle-aged man with gray hair knocked on the door and stepped inside. It was Rufus Rhys, the King of Theswe!
