An Understated Dominance - Chapter 351
That evening at Peaceful Medical Center, Natasha walked in happily, holding two bottles of wine. “Honey, I’m back! Look what I brought! These are aged wines, and I’m sure you’ll love them!”
Suddenly, her smile faded. Dustin wasn’t there, and instead, she saw two unfamiliar faces. Gregory, who usually slouched in a drunken haze, was sitting up straight with a serious look on his face. This was strange.
“Mr. Jones, who are they?” Natasha asked, her curiosity growing.
“You’re back, lass? Let me introduce them. This is Dustin’s father, Rufus, and this is an old friend of mine, Albert,” Gregory said, pointing to each man.
“Dustin’s father?” Natasha’s eyes brightened.
“Oh, so my father-in-law is here! I’m sorry I didn’t recognize you!” She quickly got up and poured tea for everyone. With a warm smile, she handed a cup to Rufus and said, “Please have some tea, Father!”
“What?” Rufus looked surprised by her enthusiasm. “Young lady, may I ask who you are?”
“Since we’re meeting for the first time, it’s normal that you don’t know me, Father. My name is Natasha Harmon, and I’m Dustin’s wife, your daughter-in-law,” she said, beaming with confidence.
“My daughter-in-law?” Rufus paused, then quickly realized what she meant. A big smile spread across his face as he laughed heartily.
“That’s wonderful! How lucky my son is to have such a charming wife! This is fantastic!” Rufus exclaimed. It seemed that Dustin had managed to win over two amazing women without anyone noticing. Rufus was thrilled.
“Oh, you flatter me too much, Father. I’m the lucky one to have Dustin. He’s an amazing man,” Natasha replied, her heart swelling with joy.
“I’d say he’s quite a catch!” Natasha laughed.
“Oh, is that lad really such a fine man?” Rufus joked.
“Of course he is!” Natasha didn’t hold back in her praise. “He’s smart, skilled in martial arts, and his medical skills are excellent. It seems like he can do anything! Plus, he’s gentle and caring, always taking on his responsibilities. You just don’t find men like him these days!”
“Hahaha! You sure know your man well!” Rufus laughed loudly at his son’s praise. He smiled so widely that his wrinkles showed, and pride filled his face. There was nothing better than hearing good things about your own child.
“Of course, you must have taught him well for him to turn out so amazing, Father. Really, you deserve credit for raising such a brilliant son!” Natasha took the chance to compliment Rufus too.
“Hahaha!” Rufus was overjoyed. He laughed so much that his cheeks started to hurt. He hadn’t felt this happy in ten years.
Albert, who sat next to Rufus, smiled brightly too. He was glad for Rufus that he had another daughter-in-law.
“Oh, you certainly have a way with words, young lady! Since you called me ‘father,’ I must give you a gift.” Once Rufus stopped laughing, he took out a dagger and handed it to Natasha. “This dagger has been with me for many years. I want you to have it to mark our first meeting.”
“This is too precious! I can’t accept this!” Natasha waved her hands in protest.
With just one look, Natasha knew this dagger was special. The gemstones on the hilt were worth a fortune, and the blade itself was even more valuable.
“Take it. It’s not worth much. It could be useful for protection,” Rufus said with a chuckle. He appreciated how understanding his daughter-in-law was. He would gladly give her anything, even the stars, if she asked.
“Just accept it, lass. This is your father-in-law showing his affection,” Mr. Jones added with a wink. The dagger was one of the top ten blades in the world. Even the Sword Whisperer, who loved swords, had tried to get it many times, but Rufus always refused to let it go.
“Alright, then. Thank you, Father,” Natasha said with a sweet smile as she carefully put the dagger away.
They enjoyed a good conversation and quickly felt a strong bond, deciding to call each other father and daughter from then on. For a moment, the medical center felt warm and cozy.
Just then, Dustin walked in, smiling after finishing his shopping. But when he saw Rufus, his smile faded.
“Oh, I just got here. What a coincidence to see Father! Why didn’t you tell me he was coming? I wasn’t ready!” Natasha complained. If she had known Dustin’s father would visit, she would have prepared gifts to impress him and win his favor.
