Dahlia frowned. The amount they were discussing was not small. In all of Swinton, only a few people had one billion in liquid assets to withdraw.

“Of course, if you can’t secure the investment funds, please step aside for someone more deserving. We don’t want you to hold back the company’s progress,” Gloria said with a sneer.

In reality, Gloria had set the requirement for a one billion investment fund, not the family patriarch. She didn’t want an outsider to have that much power. That’s why she tried to make Dahlia step aside on her own. This way, Gloria could explain her actions to the patriarch later.

“Why are you quiet? Don’t tell me you can’t handle something so small?” Gloria taunted.

“Hmph! If you can’t do it, I’ll take over as chairman,” Dakota said, lifting her chin proudly. With her connections and Gloria’s support, raising one billion wouldn’t be hard.

Suddenly, Dustin spoke up, “Who said she couldn’t manage? It’s just one billion. We’ll have it in three days!”

“Three days? Are you out of your mind?” Florence exclaimed, nearly jumping out of her seat. “How can we get one billion in three days? That’s a massive amount! Thirty days would be more realistic!” Dahlia’s brows furrowed. “Dustin, where am I supposed to find one billion in just three days?” It was already difficult enough to secure that amount, let alone in such a short time.

“Don’t worry. Just leave it to me. I’ll make it happen,” Dustin said with a reassuring smile.

“Alright, you’re the one making the promise. You have exactly three days,” Gloria said, her eyes shining with mischief. “If you can’t do it in that time, you all will be kicked out of this family!” With that, she turned and left, leaning on her cane.

“Ha! What a joke! One billion in three days? Don’t be naive; you aren’t that rich!” Dakota laughed mockingly as she and Jane followed Gloria away.

They thought it was impossible for anyone, especially Dahlia, to pull off such a feat. They believed Dustin was just trying to show off, and they let him know how they felt, but this only made him seem childish to them.

Once they were gone, Florence exploded in anger. “Rhys! How could you agree to their conditions without consulting us? If we fail, Dahlia will lose her job as chairman of the Cardinal Group! Are you trying to sabotage us?”

Dustin calmly replied, “If we didn’t agree, Dahlia’s position would be in danger anyway.”

Florence scoffed, “Easy for you to say! Even if money rained down from the sky, we wouldn’t be able to get one billion in three days!”

Dustin maintained his composure. “Since I agreed, it means I’m confident. Just trust me.”

“Trust you? Who do you think you are? You only run a small medical center. Do you really believe you’re someone important?” Florence scolded him.

“Hah! If you actually pull this off, I’ll get down on my knees and kiss your feet!” James sneered at Dustin.

“Great, it’s a deal,” Dustin replied with a smile.
