Thank goodness our Serenity is healthy, and the baby is too.”

Serenity asked, “Five months pregnant and fetal arrest?”

Tania took her daughter-in-law’s hand. Their bond was as warm as that of a mother and daughter as they entered the house together.

Meanwhile, Zachary felt forgotten by both the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law.

Zachary had grown used to returning to Wildridge Manor, where his parents were always focused on Serenity. Even the baby in her womb seemed to take precedence over him.

Without him, how could his parents expect to become grandparents so quickly?

Tania had a daughter-in-law and seemed to overlook her son.

“Sam, where’s Grandma now? Go find her; I have something to tell her.”

Sam smiled and replied, “Grandma is at the foot of the mountain. She can’t stay in the house. I’ll go get her and bring her home now.”

As he spoke, Sam walked over to a car parked nearby, got in, and drove off.

He planned to take the elderly lady up the mountain later; otherwise, he would ride an electric bicycle, which was more convenient.

While riding the electric bicycle with the old lady, Sam was always anxious. Although she was still quite strong, she was over eighty years old. If she didn’t hold on properly while seated on the back of the electric bicycle and fell off, it could lead to serious consequences.

After Sam left, Zachary walked up the steps and entered the house.

Zachary overheard Tania telling Serenity that her friend’s daughter-in-law had given birth to her third child through in vitro fertilization. The first two children were girls, and the third child would also be conceived this way. Anyone familiar with the situation would understand.

Unfortunately, she experienced a fetal stoppage after more than five months of pregnancy.

“It’s not that my friend doesn’t love her granddaughters. Her two granddaughters, aged six and four, are both smart and adorable. I particularly cherish them. However, she feels a grandson is needed to carry on the family legacy in the future.”

Serenity remarked, “Many heirs are girls. A son isn’t necessary to take over. Children are your own, and whoever is capable and suitable should be allowed to inherit. Why insist on having sons as successors?”

“Absolutely! As long as you provide me with a granddaughter, I will do everything possible to ensure she has the best. What’s the point of taking over? If my granddaughter has the ability, then she should take the lead.”

After Tania expressed her thoughts, she changed the topic and said, “But, Serenity, if I’m fortunate enough to have a granddaughter, I selfishly hope she doesn’t become the heir. It would be too exhausting.”

If she has a granddaughter, she wishes for her to enjoy a carefree life, like a princess, rather than being an heir burdened with hard work.
