“Mr. York, it’s not a matter of borrowing money but rather an inability to repay it. So, is it a love debt? You seem quite kind to that girl; even after she kicked you, you don’t appear angry.”

Evan openly expressed his feelings for Fox, stating, “You’re correct. I wanted her to be my wife, but unfortunately, it started poorly. I’ve known her for three or four months, yet I don’t even know her name or address, let alone her phone number.”

The secretary replied, “That shouldn’t be the case, Mr. York. You are not only our boss but also the fourth young master of the York family. How many girls strive to marry into the York family? How could she not be interested in you? Despite the time we’ve known her, she hasn’t even shared her name with you. Is it possible she prefers women, or is she not a typical woman or perhaps even married?”

Evan shot a glare at his secretary and said, “She cannot be a lesbian.”

It seemed that Fox was single, but Evan was unsure if she had a boyfriend.

Could it be that she had a sweetheart, which is why she remained indifferent towards Evan?

Abby had been aloof too, but after he pursued her for a while, she began to feel attracted to him.

Evan noted, “I honestly don’t know if she has a sweetheart, but from what I can tell, she should be unmarried.”

The secretary inquired, “Mr. York, does she know your true identity?”

Evan replied, “I can tell she is quite capable, almost as skilled as the young master of the Bucham family. I’m not sure how she has this information. You have been by my side since I entered society, and over the years, I’ve come to see you as a trusted friend, so I am—”

The secretary looked grateful and replied, “Thank you, Mr. York, for trusting me.”

Evan continued, “I’m merely sharing this information. My brothers didn’t mention anything. In fact, I had people follow her, and I even trailed her myself. Unfortunately, my team always ends up getting caught, beaten, and coming away with nothing.

I tried to gather information myself, but I was unsuccessful. It’s remarkably easy to lose track of her. She’s adept at evading people. I suspect she might be a detective, but I have no evidence to support that claim.”

The secretary remarked, “This girl is quite mysterious.”

It was no wonder they were all perplexed.

People can be cruel at times. The less you can obtain, the more you desire it, and the more satisfying it becomes.

“She is indeed enigmatic. If I didn’t know that Julian has no sister, I would think she was his sibling.”

They were powerful and well-informed.

They could either be Julian’s relatives or detectives, equipped with the knowledge to easily eliminate anyone following her.

“I wanted to invite her to dinner, but she refused and ran away. I’m unsure when we’ll have the chance to meet again,” Evan expressed his disappointment as he walked toward the office.

The secretary called out after him, “Mr. York, don’t give up! It’s rare to find someone you truly like. You can win her over. Whether we have a boss lady depends on you, Mr. York.”

Evan turned to the secretary and said, “Thank you for your support. If my wish comes true one day, I’ll double your bonus.”

The secretary smiled and replied, “It would be great if you could double the year-end bonus.”

“Alright,” Evan agreed readily.
