Chapter 3363
“Kathryn, are you available now?” Liberty inquired.
Kathryn responded, “As long as you need my assistance, I’m always here.”
Liberty replied, “Then let’s meet somewhere.”
“You choose the location,” Kathryn nodded and then asked, “What happened?”
“I just left the Fortress Hotel and nearly got hit by two cars at the entrance. The drivers claimed they were nervous due to the crowd and confused the accelerator with the brake. However, something feels off, so I doubt it was just an accident.”
Kathryn processed this and said, “Do you think my mom arranged for someone to hit you? She’s currently away on a long trip, so that seems unlikely.”
Despite knowing her biological mother was not a good person, Kathryn hoped she wouldn’t stoop to such a level.
Liberty responded, “I don’t believe it’s your mom. She’s very clever. If she wanted me dead, she wouldn’t resort to such a simple tactic that I could easily see through.”
Last time, she, Kevin, and Hayden attended a banquet at the Farrell family’s home. On their way back, they experienced a car accident, which she suspected was orchestrated by Clarissa, but she lacked proof to confirm it.
The setup was too plausible.
Today’s incident also appeared reasonable, yet it was odd that both drivers of the two cars claimed they pressed the accelerator instead of the brake. Even if they were friends, did they share the same mindset?
It was as if they were following the same script.
Kathryn suggested, “How about this? I’ll send you an address. Go there now, and I’ll join you shortly.”
Liberty agreed, “Okay.”
Kathryn then ended the call.
Kathryn called Liberty and sent her the address of her private company, which was located half an hour away from the center of Jensburg City. Although it was in the same district as Jensburg, it was in a different area. This location offered a safer environment for discussing sensitive matters, as it was entirely within her territory.
After providing Liberty with the address, Kathryn called Pedro Fraser again. When he answered, she informed him about Liberty’s recent encounter and instructed, “Mr. Fraser, please investigate whether the incident was accidental or intentional. Was it my mom, or could it have been my brothers or my dad?”
Kathryn doubted that her mother was involved and speculated that her older brother, Marco, might be responsible.
Pedro replied, “Okay, I’ll look into it.”
Kathryn urged, “Please do it as soon as possible. I plan to meet Liberty in person to discuss things. Send me the results when you find them, so I can provide Liberty with an explanation.”
Pedro understood that although Kathryn and Liberty were competitors in business, they held a mutual admiration for each other. If not for their differing identities, they would likely have become good friends.
Kathryn’s request for an investigation into Liberty’s situation prompted Pedro to take on the task personally.
After informing Pedro, Kathryn checked with her secretary and learned that Marco was at the company and had not stepped out. However, Marco didn’t need to leave for such matters; a simple phone call would suffice.
Even if Marco couldn’t seize power, he could still build connections and cultivate loyal confidants. Yet, expanding his own team was not an option, as Clarissa would not permit it.
Clarissa was determined to ensure that once Shiloh took over, power would remain firmly in Shiloh’s hands as the head of the family. However, she never anticipated that Shiloh, whom she had invested all her efforts in, would face such challenges.
Efforts to cultivate the family ties were futile, as Shiloh was not a child of the Farrell family. Kathryn pondered: If Clarissa realized that Shiloh was not her biological daughter, would she still permit her three brothers to gain more power? It was unthinkable to ask Clarissa to pass the position of head of the family to any other girls in the clan. If Kathryn, the biological daughter, could not be located, Clarissa would undoubtedly change the family rules to support Marco’s claim to the throne. Kathryn could somewhat understand why her three brothers and her father had distanced themselves from her since her return to the Farrell family; they genuinely adored Shiloh.
