Pedro said, “Alright, let’s proceed for now. I’ll see if I can finish my work early and pick you up then.”
Kathryn did not object.
After hanging up, Kathryn fell silent for a moment. She realized she was becoming increasingly dependent on Pedro and felt unable to be without him. Moreover, he was the only person she truly trusted.
Kathryn sent another message to Liberty, inquiring if she had arrived and informing her that she would be there shortly.
Liberty quickly responded, stating she had arrived at her company and that a manager had greeted her.
In reply, Kathryn sent an “OK” emoji.
Putting her phone away, she restarted the car and drove off swiftly.

The front desk attendant replied, “She should be in the VIP room on the top floor. The manager is meeting with her.”
Kathryn nodded and headed toward the elevator, soon riding it to the top floor.
Although her company was quite large, it still couldn’t compare to the major corporations. The office building stood only five stories tall.
The general manager’s office was located on the fifth floor, which also housed Manager Gauthier’s office. Manager Gauthier was the brother of her former roommate and a seasoned manager.
In addition to their offices, the fifth floor contained conference rooms and VIP rooms.
Upon exiting the elevator, Kathryn walked directly to the VIP room, as its door was open and the lights were on.
Perhaps the front desk clerk had informed Manager Gauthier of her arrival. As soon as Kathryn entered the VIP room, Manager Gauthier stepped out.
“Boss, you’re back. Ms. Hunt has been waiting here for quite a while.”
Though Kathryn’s company was not located in the city center, several minutes’ drive away, both she and Manager Gauthier were in Jensburg, where he had heard of Liberty.
Liberty had just begun her journey in Jensburg’s business community, but due to her identity and the influential families behind her, she had garnered attention the moment she arrived in the bustling city.
Everyone in Jensburg was aware of Liberty’s identity and her connection to the Farrell family. Given that it involved his boss, Manager Gauthier naturally took notice of Liberty and recognized her when she came by.
