Chapter 3401
Evan tilted his head to glance at Bianca before refocusing on the road. He chuckled and remarked, “In the past, thieves would rob the rich to aid the poor, but nowadays, stealing is strictly illegal. If you get caught, it’s classified as theft, and you’ll end up in jail. It was illegal back then too, but chaos made it hard to catch them. Now, with surveillance cameras everywhere, if the police want to apprehend you, they will find a way. You are so young and beautiful; it would be wiser for you not to follow in the footsteps of the senior thieves.”
Bianca smiled and replied, “I was merely joking. I have no intention of committing any illegal acts. My master and his friends have also mentioned that things are different now compared to the past. They taught us to respect the law and to avoid murder, arson, or any other crimes.”
Evan responded, “Your master and his friends are deserving of respect.”
Bianca added, “When a group of old men gathers, nothing good comes of it. They keep insisting that I should get married, but I don’t see them helping me find a partner. If they could just find me a suitable person, I would happily marry right away.”
Evan said, “Living alone, carefree, means we young people have to embrace the grave of love.” He had his own complaints about being urged to marry, sharing with Bianca that his family elders would occasionally nag him about it.
Bianca interjected, “No, I’ve heard that Grandma York has selected prospective brides for you. Don’t you have one yet? You’re the fourth young master, and you’ll be thirty soon, right? I heard the fifth and sixth young masters have already chosen wives, yet you remain single? Is it that you’ve been overlooked? Or are you just an adopted child, not a biological member of the York family?”
Evan asserted, “I am her biological son from the York family, without a doubt. My grandmother chose someone for me, but I just couldn’t develop feelings for her.” Bianca asked, “So, is she not good?” Evan replied, “Not at all; she’s very good. I don’t dislike her, and we get along well.” Bianca’s lovely eyes sparkled. “Then that’s great! There’s something to talk about; she’s not annoying, she’s excellent, and she’s a good match for you. Whoever Grandma York chose must surely be a good fit.” After a brief silence, Evan said, “I wanted to pursue my wife like my brothers did, but after a few months, I realized I couldn’t fall in love with her. I felt we could only be friends, but she didn’t want that. It was either we were married or we broke up, and I chose the latter. My grandma always says I’m the only one among my brothers like this, which is why she often gives me a hard time and keeps an eye on me.” Bianca responded, “If you can’t develop feelings for her, don’t waste her time. Feelings can’t be forced. It’s kind of you to be direct about your feelings instead of dragging it out. Unlike some people who clearly don’t love someone yet stick around until they find the right person, only to break up with the other person later. If they don’t find the right match, they just continue the charade, leaving the one who was sincere heartbroken.” Evan agreed, “I feel the same way. If I don’t love someone, I can’t force it. I must be honest with Abby. Honestly, she’s really great.” Had he not met Fox and spent more time with Abby, he might have developed feelings for her. Unfortunately, his heart was already taken by Fox. The dream he had became a reality, and it seemed God had already given him a warning. The wife that his
The woman his grandmother had arranged for him would ultimately not be the one he would marry. Instead, he was endlessly entangled with his true love. Bianca questioned, “If you don’t love me, why do you keep bothering me?” She then asked, “Fourth Young Master, is there someone you like?” Evan replied, “Yes.” Bianca responded, “Oh, then you need to be clear about it and not involve others.” She chose not to ask who Evan was interested in, as they had only just met and gotten to know each other today.
