Chapter 3435
Noel and Sage exchanged glances, and their expressions shifted.
Kathryn was their only biological sister. Initially, their mother was not very kind to her, but over the past six months, she had gradually come to trust Kathryn more and had incrementally given her more authority.
They were taken aback that their mother would actually attack Kathryn.
Holden calmly stated, “Kathryn will not die. Regardless of how cruel your mother may be, she would not kill Kathryn. It is far more likely that she would target the four of us—father and son.”
The family rules of the Farrells dictated that the head of the family always favored daughters over sons.
Holden valued his successor above his own life.
Since Shiloh was already deceased, no matter how furious or vindictive Clarissa became, she would never harm Kathryn.
“Then why is Kathryn lying motionless?”
Marco also hoped for Kathryn’s survival.
It wasn’t that he had a deep affection for her; rather, he felt sorrow at the prospect of losing yet another family member.
If Clarissa were to murder Kathryn, the four of them—father and son—would truly have to live in fear.
After a moment of thought, Holden speculated, “Perhaps your mother drugged her and rendered her unconscious. She is likely planning to kill Liberty.”
This was the only explanation Holden could conceive for Clarissa’s actions. Because of Kathryn’s strong friendship with Liberty, she would not actually go through with killing her.
Kathryn might have been unknowingly drugged and unable to warn Liberty, giving Clarissa’s scheme a chance of succeeding.
“It’s winter vacation now. Find an excuse to ask your mom for a leave of absence, and then take the kids back to your grandparents’ house, away from the conflicts in Jensburg. Wait until your mom has resolved her issues, and then—”
“Then return based on the circumstances.”
Holden’s hometown was quite distant from Jensburg, so he invited his children and grandchildren to visit him for a vacation, hoping they could escape any conflicts.
He sensed that Clarissa wanted to distance herself from Liberty and her group.
On the surface, they were family.
Yet, despite Clarissa knowing that Liberty was her eldest sister’s granddaughter, she felt no bond with her. When Liberty established a company in Jensburg to compete with Farrell Group, Clarissa likely harbored violent thoughts toward her.
Although Clarissa had strong feelings about Liberty, she wouldn’t gain anything, as the people in Wiltspoon would not allow it.
However, if Liberty were to disappear, it would mean the end of the descendants of the previous family head’s hopes of taking over. After all, among those chosen from Wiltspoon, Liberty was the only one deemed suitable for leadership.
Unless Audrey were to take over the Farrell family herself and forcefully alter the family and clan rules like the Lafayette family did in Meadspring.
After the current head of the Lafayette family assumed control, he revised the family and clan rules through significant planning and sacrifices made by the previous head. Today, the Lafayette family is free from many of their old bad habits.
Marco and his two brothers were utterly bewildered. They exchanged glances, unsure what had triggered their mother’s sudden desire to harm Liberty.
Although Liberty was alone in Jensburg, she had bodyguards provided by the three major wealthy families in Wiltspoon, who were always present to ensure her safety.
Kevin had been in Jensburg for quite some time. He and Hayden were a couple, and the Queen family would not allow the Farrell family to harm her, as she was…
Kevin’s sister-in-law.
Could it be that his mother was plotting to kill Kevin?
If that were the case, the Farrell family would certainly have made a formidable enemy.
Regardless of how inept Marco and his two brothers were, they understood the gravity of offending multiple wealthy families simultaneously, even if those families were not from Jensburg.
“Dad, why?” Sage inquired, puzzled.
