Chapter 3441
While driving, Pedro heard Kathryn’s voice and immediately applied the emergency brake. Realizing how dangerous this was, he quickly activated the hazard lights. After ensuring there were no cars behind him, he safely pulled over.
“Miss?” Pedro turned to look at her.
Kathryn attempted to sit up but felt dizzy, and the world around her was spinning, preventing her from getting up. She could only remain lying down.
She was unsure where her mother had obtained the medicine, what it was, or why it was so effective. After taking a sip of warm water, she sensed something was off about it and decided to stop drinking. Moments later, she lost consciousness.
It took a while for her to regain awareness. When she heard her mother’s voice, she lay still, pretending to be unconscious until Pedro carried her away from the Farrell family mansion.
To make her more comfortable while she slept, Pedro placed her in the back seat, where there were three seats to lie on, providing a more comfortable position compared to leaning against the passenger seat. He wanted her to rest easily, ensuring she wouldn’t feel uncomfortable upon waking up.
“Miss, are you okay?” he asked.
Pedro exited the car, opened the back door, and leaned in to assist Kathryn. She raised her hand to stop him, saying weakly, “I feel very dizzy. I can’t sit up. If I do, I’ll feel even dizzier.”
As she spoke, she closed her eyes again, her brows furrowing tightly from the dizziness. “The drug my mother gave me was really powerful,” Kathryn remarked.
Pedro gently touched her forehead.

However, Kathryn woke up so abruptly that Pedro felt a wave of relief.
“Kathryn said, ‘Mr. Fraser, please inform Liberty… My mother intends to fight her to the death, and we will both be in danger.’”
Liberty was the most appropriate successor among her aunt’s descendants, making her mother determined to eliminate her.
Pedro instinctively replied, “Miss, to be precise, Liberty is your rival and stands against you.”
Kathryn opened her eyes. Due to dizziness, she perceived Pedro as a double image. She rubbed her temples in an attempt to alleviate the dizziness.
Nevertheless, she stated, “One generation may have been wrong, but we cannot allow all generations to be wrong. It’s not mine, and I don’t want it.”
She grasped Pedro’s hand, closed her eyes, and pleaded, “Mr. Fraser, if you still see me as your lady, please follow my wishes and contact Liberty immediately. I’m not genuinely interested in the position of matriarch.”
The chance to reunite with Pedro was the greatest benefit of reconnecting with her biological parents. Her mother had usurped the family head position.
It wasn’t hers, and she had no desire to fight for it. Additionally, she lacked the courage to confront Liberty and the others.
Her mother was responsible for the murders of Liberty’s grandparents and family, creating a profound enmity between them.
She could not change what happened decades ago, nor did she know where she had been at that time.
Now, decades later, she could only strive to protect her aunt’s descendants as a form of atonement for her mother’s wrongs against her aunt.
Kathryn didn’t mind that this decision would cost her the chance to become the head of the family.
She simply needed to stay true to her conscience.
