Chapter 3468
“Mr. Fraser, once we resolve this issue, let’s leave Jensburg, alright? Let’s avoid the gossip. We don’t need to go far, just somewhere outside the center of Jensburg City,” she suggested.
Kathryn recalled that her company was still based in Jensburg, though not in the heart of the city. After years of managing the business, she had no intention of relocating anytime soon. Moving to a new city and environment felt like starting from scratch, which would hinder the company’s growth.
Pedro responded warmly, “Miss, as long as you wish to leave, I will always be by your side. I have pledged my loyalty to you alone in this life!”
For both professional and personal reasons, his heart and mind were devoted solely to Kathryn.
Kathryn looked up at Pedro and saw the deep affection he held for her reflected in his eyes.
Suddenly, she realized that Pedro was actually quite handsome. While he might not be as striking as Hayden or the men of the York family, he was certainly more than attractive enough compared to the average person.
“Mr. Fraser, do you want to marry me?” Kathryn asked unexpectedly.
Deep down, she understood that her feelings for Pedro had evolved beyond those of a young lady and her assistant. Her desire to have a daughter with Pedro’s intelligence and capabilities had sparked deeper emotions for him.
Liberty often joked that Kathryn only wanted good genes and intended to keep the child while getting rid of the father.
Pedro replied with affection, “Whether it’s marriage or simply being together, as long as I’m with you, I’m content! In my heart, I see myself as your accessory, so let’s get married.”
He was eager to marry her, yet he feared he might never have that opportunity.
Kathryn smiled and asked, “When I’m no longer the head of the Farrell family in the future, will you think I’m worthless? Will you blame yourself for having bad luck in following a—”
“Useless master?”
Pedro responded, “No, Miss. You are not useless. You still possess a conscience, which prevents you from being on the same level as Madam Farrell.”
Kathryn’s smile slowly faded. She sighed, “I simply can’t empathize with my mother. Maybe it’s as she said—I didn’t grow up with her, so our relationship isn’t deep. All I know is that if it’s not yours, you shouldn’t try to take it. If it belongs to you, no one can take it away. You can’t be overly ruthless in your dealings with others; you need a conscience to avoid having nightmares at night.”
While she didn’t consider herself completely virtuous, she couldn’t align with her mother’s views and was unwilling to have her hands stained with blood or bear responsibility for multiple lives.
“Miss, regardless of your decision, I will always support you,” Pedro assured her. He was committed to standing by Kathryn’s side.
Just like Mr. Dunn, who couldn’t be labeled a bad person but was Clarissa’s assistant, Pedro understood loyalty. Mr. Dunn had been trained to devote his life to Clarissa. He had to follow her orders and strive to accomplish every task assigned to him.
In the same vein, Pedro felt he could only do what was necessary, and he was grateful that Kathryn was different from Clarissa.
He had fallen in love with Kathryn, and she reciprocated his feelings. Their mutual affection made him feel fortunate.
Kathryn said, “Mr. Fraser, your words make me feel at ease.”
She gestured for Pedro to lower his head, and he complied. She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him on the cheek, then finally pressed her lips to his.
Pedro instinctively embraced her.
He supported her back and steadied her head. Not content with her soft kiss, he intensified it.
After their passionate embrace, Kathryn felt a twinge of embarrassment. Overwhelmed by her emotions, she couldn’t resist kissing Pedro. Naturally impulsive, she acted on her desire without hesitation.
“I want to sleep a little longer,” Kathryn said, feeling somewhat bashful. She lay down, closed her eyes, and used her sleepiness as an excuse to mask her embarrassment.
