Chapter 3469
– “Don’t go to sleep just yet. Apply ice to your face before you do. Your face is so red and swollen. Even if you manage to fall asleep, I’ll be putting ice on you, which will disrupt your rest.”
Pedro could see that Kathryn was embarrassed. He gently kissed her red, swollen face and said with concern, “I belong to you, and I will always be yours. I just enjoyed the moment, and now I’m feeling shy.”
“Who says I’m embarrassed? I have thick skin. I’m not embarrassed at all. You also said you’re mine. What’s wrong with me kissing you? Even if I sleep beside you, you won’t be able to resist me.”
Kathryn was unwilling to admit her embarrassment.
Pedro took some ice and applied it to her face while smiling at her words. “You can sleep with me anytime, but it would be best if you let me know beforehand so I can tidy up before you enjoy it.”
Kathryn replied, “I’ll have to keep my distance from you next time. Both sides of my face are swollen.” She paused for a moment before continuing, “I was the one who betrayed Mom first. She has every reason to be angry. Although I believe I did the right thing, to her, it feels like a betrayal. If it had been Shiloh instead of me, her conspiracy might have had some success. So, if she wants to teach me a lesson, I’ll accept it, as long as she doesn’t kill me.”
Kathryn glanced out the window and added, “There’s no sun today. I still haven’t seen the sunrise. I told my mom not to hit me in the face the next time she punishes me.”
“And later!”
Pedro softly exclaimed.

Seeing her beaten this time, Pedro felt so heartbroken that he nearly clashed with Clarissa on her behalf. Clarissa insisted that Pedro leave, and he had no choice but to endure her demands to avoid a real confrontation.
Kathryn smiled and remarked, “Not only will there be a next time, but there may be countless others. As long as I am aware of her schemes, I can’t just stand idly by unless she manages to conceal them from me.”
After a brief pause, she turned to Pedro and added, “Now that you are by my side, it will be challenging for her to hide her actions from me. She won’t physically confront me. If she were to incapacitate me, I wouldn’t be able to marry a son-in-law or bear a daughter, resulting in no successor, which is not what she desires.”
After her mother’s persuasion, Kathryn gained insight into her mother’s mindset. Clarissa would never return the head of the family position to her sister’s descendants. She hoped that Kathryn would assume control of the Farrell family and claim it as her own. Clarissa intended to stop supporting others in the family and wished for everything in the Farrell family to be passed down to future generations, all of whom would be her descendants.
Thus, no matter how furious Clarissa became, she would never truly jeopardize Kathryn’s life. In Clarissa’s view, she had committed numerous wrongdoings, offended many clan members, and driven several away. She marginalized the clan elders, centralized power, and gradually privatized the family business, transforming it into her private property.
Having accomplished so much, how could there be no one to inherit it? What else could her mother possibly fight for? Clarissa also mentioned that if any of her three sons were capable of taking on the responsibilities…
She would not allow Kathryn to live with that burden of responsibility.
“I won’t dislike you. No matter what you become, in my heart, you will always be my lady and my young mistress.”
She was also his woman!
Kathryn smiled but remained silent.
The atmosphere in Jensburg was quite tense, and Elora, currently on a business trip in Duatemalo City, Province G, had just finished addressing several pressing matters.
She was so exhausted that she needed to take a break from work.
During this business trip, she felt more drained than she ever did while working at the company.
