She looked at the fake Carrie, securely held by the Labbe family bodyguards, who were preventing her from struggling or shouting. Turning to Mrs. Labbe, she said, “Mrs. Labbe, my sister often speaks without thinking. She has been spoiled by our parents and doesn’t comprehend the seriousness of her actions. I apologize for her behavior. You’ve taught her a lesson. For my sake, let’s just move on and send her away.”
Mrs. Labbe’s stern expression remained unchanged as she replied, “Second Young Madam, you are too kind as a sister, which is why she bullies you. I’ve heard she has tormented you quite a bit in the past.”
Camryn, keeping her composure, responded, “What’s done is done. I don’t want to hold grudges. Think of her like a dog; if a dog bites us, we don’t retaliate.”
Internally, Mrs. Labbe fumed, thinking, You’re the dog! Your entire family are dogs! Realizing she was including her own family in this, she mentally corrected herself, Camryn is the dog, a rabid dog!
Outwardly, Mrs. Labbe said, “Since the Second Young Madam prefers not to dwell on this mad dog, I will let it go this time for her sake.”
Mrs. Labbe approached Carrie, twisting her face in disgust. When Carrie glared back, Mrs. Labbe slapped her and warned, “Mind your behavior in front of me and watch your words. I’m not as kind and forgiving as the Second Young Madam. You should be grateful for her generosity. If it were up to me, I would make your life miserable for what you did to me in the past. Go find a job and don’t trouble the Second Young Madam again.”
She then signaled to the bodyguards to take Carrie away and shoved her to the ground.
Carrie, now free, quickly stood up, tore…
Removing the tape that sealed her mouth, she pointed at Mrs. Labbe and Camryn, shouting, “You two wait! One day, I will reclaim everything that belongs to me! Damn Second Young Madam! Callum was the man I loved and wanted to marry. This blind woman ruined my chances and harmed my parents. She shamelessly climbed into Callum’s bed. Does the second young master York truly believe he loves her?”
“I know whether I love her or not. How could Miss Newman possibly understand my thoughts?” Callum’s cold voice echoed.
Upon hearing his voice, the imposter Carrie turned to see Callum’s frosty expression. Her eyes sparkled; he was incredibly handsome! Based on his words, he had to be Callum, the second young master of the York family.
This fake Carrie, arranged by Mr. Labbe to act as Carrie’s stand-in, bore a striking resemblance to the real Carrie but was not her. Although she had rushed to adopt some of Carrie’s mannerisms, she had yet to familiarize herself with the elite society of Wiltspoon.
In that moment, despite quickly recognizing the handsome man as Callum, she could not conceal her initial shock and admiration for his looks.
