Chapter 3496
Mrs. Labbe, concerned that Fake Carrie might develop feelings for Callum and become a competitor, quickly stated, “Second Young Master York, you arrived just in time. Your sister-in-law insulted the Second Young Madam, so I had someone silence her. The Second Young Madam, being compassionate, asked me to forgive her. However, as soon as I released her, she insulted the Second Young Madam again.”
Regaining her composure and fearing a mistake, Fake Carrie quickly replied, “I just hate Camryn! I just want to scold her, so what?”
With that, Fake Carrie hurried to her car, swiftly got in, and attempted to drive away.
But a figure moved quickly, catching up to her vehicle in just a few strides. Before she could close the door, a strong hand reached in, grasped her wrist, and forcefully pulled her out.
Fake Carrie recognized it was the York family bodyguard again. This bodyguard was incredibly agile and dragged Carrie back to Callum.
Mrs. Labbe glared fiercely at Carrie. Even if she wasn’t particularly clever, this stand-in shouldn’t make herself look so foolish.
Callum was present, and she still dared to provoke him? Wasn’t she inviting trouble?
She should have escaped when she had the chance. The day’s objective had been accomplished; Camryn no longer doubted that Mrs. Labbe and Carrie were two different individuals.
But Fake Carrie was playing her role too convincingly, even insulting Camryn after tearing off the tape, using phrases that Carrie often used to criticize Camryn for shamelessly climbing into Callum’s bed before marrying him. These were envious, unfounded rants.
After Carrie’s release from prison, she reluctantly accepted that Callum had pursued Camryn first. Even though she was blind at the time, she had won Callum’s heart.
Even her two aunts, who spoke poorly of Camryn…
Rosella was unable to change the mind of her protective mother-in-law, who insisted that as long as Camryn could spend money, she was worthy. Meanwhile, Carrie was consumed by jealousy.
Previously, Carrie’s mother had pressured her to marry into the York family, claiming it would lead to happiness. As her mother’s favorite daughter, Carrie firmly believed this was true.
Initially, she set her sights on Zachary, the eldest York and head of the York Corporation, thinking that marrying him would be prestigious. However, her mother considered Zachary too aloof and directed her toward Callum instead.
Young and impressionable, Carrie quickly transferred her affections to Callum, convinced that she could win his heart. Over time, her feelings morphed into a sense of possessiveness.
She believed Callum was meant to be hers alone. Yet, her blind sister, whom she loathed, became the second young lady of the York family. Filled with jealousy and bitterness, Carrie concocted stories and insults to disparage Camryn.
