Kathryn settled onto the sofa and gazed at the overflowing plate of food. “There are only two of us; we can’t possibly eat all of this. There’s really no need to cook so much.”
“It’s not that excessive. The portion is just right for two,” he replied.
He brought a bowl of soup and placed it in front of Kathryn, allowing her to serve herself first.
“Don’t forget to eat too.”
“Alright,” Pedro agreed without hesitation.
Having prepared the meal, he served it from an insulated lunch box without having eaten anything himself.
He enjoyed dining with Kathryn; she had a hearty appetite and wasn’t like other wealthy girls who ate sparingly to maintain their figures.
She ate what she liked and as much as she wanted, never neglecting her hunger.
Suddenly, Kathryn’s phone rang in the ward.
“I’ll get that for you,” Pedro said, setting down his bowl and chopsticks. He stood up, retrieved Kathryn’s phone, and handed it to her. “It’s Ms. Queen calling.”
Kathryn quickly answered, smiling, “Ms. Queen! Are you back from your vacation?”
“Yes, I’m back. I’ve been quite busy since my return and haven’t had the chance to visit you yet,” Hayden’s deep voice responded.
Pedro could hear the conversation and pursed his lips, listening intently. Internally, he grumbled: Hayden has already revealed she’s a woman, so why does she still speak in such a masculine tone? Her voice is really pleasant, though.

The Mr. York Hayden referred to was not her husband but Zachary.
