Chapter 3526
Even though Evan didn’t work at the headquarters of York Corporation, he had significant responsibilities and managed several subsidiaries. The men in the York family were expected to grasp the operations of York Corporation as soon as they began their careers.
They needed to be independent. Even if they were promoted, they had to be capable of supporting York Corporation, no matter their position within the company.
Thus, it was easy for Callum to enlist Evan’s help with documents, as Evan was well-versed in every project and issue at headquarters.
“So many!” Evan exclaimed.
Callum replied irritably, “You think we’re relaxed, but your eldest brother and I are always busy while you seem to be doing nothing.”
Evan protested, “I’m not doing nothing. I’m very busy too.”
Callum retorted, “I don’t see you busy.”
Evan was speechless. Since he didn’t work at the headquarters, his brothers couldn’t perceive his level of busyness. He regretted mentioning he was bored earlier; it would have been better to express his purpose directly.
“My eldest brother is even more exhausted,” Callum said.
Zachary was the backbone of York Corporation. While he didn’t manage minor issues, he handled many significant ones. Given the company’s size, Zachary bore numerous responsibilities, attended endless meetings, and participated in frequent social events.
Before they were married, it was common for the brothers to socialize late into the night. Zachary used to consider arriving home by 11:00 p.m. early.
After marrying and starting families, they shifted their focus more toward family life, thereby reducing or shortening social events. This change provided the younger brothers with more opportunities to gain experience.
Evan didn’t dare to say anything more.
Callum walked over to the sofa, sat down, placed his coffee cup on the table, and took out his phone to message Camryn.
Camryn responded quickly, asking how he had time to text.
“I captured a helper,” Callum joyfully informed Camryn.
Camryn replied with a question mark.
Callum typed two words: Evan.
“Brother,” Evan called from across the room.
“What?” Callum replied impatiently, not bothering to look up.
“Is my second sister-in-law free?” Evan inquired.
Callum glanced up, his expression cautious, and defensively asked, “Why do you need your second sister-in-law’s help? Her eyes haven’t fully recovered yet, so don’t bother her. Grandma is at home. If you need anything, go to Grandma or Mom.”
“Brother, I haven’t even said what I need, and you’re already rejecting me,” Evan said, feeling frustrated. Callum was overly protective of Camryn, but all the brothers cherished their wives.
As the youngest, Evan risked being scolded by his eldest brother, yet the sisters-in-law were undoubtedly adored by all the brothers.
Evan hadn’t yet succeeded in winning over his love interest, so he couldn’t experience the joy of spoiling a wife. He hadn’t even managed to pet Fox yet, and pursuing his love was proving to be exceedingly difficult. If he ever succeeded, he would want to spoil Fox too.
Evan understood his brothers’ tendency to pamper their wives.
Callum scoffed, “Whenever you ask about your sister-in-law, you must need something. If your brothers won’t help you, you turn to your sister-in-law.”
Knowing their brothers spoiled their wives, the younger ones would seek assistance from their sisters-in-law when faced with resistance from their brothers.
