“Dr. Carden often needs to go out to treat patients. Seren won’t suspect anything if she is away for a few days,” Audrey continued. “If Seren weren’t pregnant, we wouldn’t keep this from her. The child is important, so it’s best to shield her from this news.”
Uncle Jimenez concurred that they should keep it from Serenity, especially since it had taken her a year after marriage to get pregnant. It was a challenging experience for her, and she was under considerable stress. If she learned that Jensburg faced a crucial battle, she would undoubtedly be anxious and might insist on joining them.
