Chapter 3548
Lilian often had to go on long journeys, which could last anywhere from three to five days or extend up to ten days to half a month. Tim frequently found himself alone in an empty room with their son, waiting for his wife to return.
This time, as Lilian set off on another trip, Tim was uncertain when she would come back.
He understood that Lilian was primarily leaving to serve as Grandpa Jimenez’s personal doctor and nurse, looking after his well-being. Other elderly residents would be there as well, leaving Tim at a loss for words.
“I’ll return when Grandpa Jimenez comes back to the Stone Family,” Lilian said, linking her arm with his. “While I’m away, you should spend more time with our son. Just think about how lonely he is. As a mother, I’m often not around. He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, but it’s only the nanny who cares for him. You’re busy during the week, so you can only spend time with him at night.”
Tim replied, “Why should he feel lonely? He doesn’t even know how fortunate he is. He’s a very happy child. With the master taking care of him, he barely recognizes me as his father, so why would he need me around? The master will handle everything.”
Tim felt reassured knowing his father-in-law was present.
He was too embarrassed to confess that he secretly wished his father-in-law would retire and live at FC Manor, where he and Lilian could care for him.
The old man had no children of his own, only one disciple—Lilian, who was both his cherished student and daughter.
After retirement, it would make sense for him to live with his daughter and son-in-law, and they would look after him.
If the old man lived at FC Manor, Fabian would be well taken care of, and Tim wouldn’t have to worry as a father. This would give him more time to spend with his wife—what a wonderful situation that would be!
Lilian thought, I assumed he was being filial, but he’s
He was just a selfish person who only thought of himself, much like her. The couple was a perfect match.
“I can’t leave right now; otherwise, I’d accompany you,” he said.
“You’re busy; there’s a lot going on at the company,” Lilian replied, not wanting her husband to follow her. She was perhaps accustomed to flying solo. Unless they were on vacation together, she preferred not to have Tim tagging along wherever she went.
Tim had privately complained more than once that she wasn’t clingy at all. But what was there to cling to?
His heart belonged to her, and no one could take it away. If it weren’t with her, she wouldn’t be able to reclaim it. That was simply how things were.
They both had their own careers to focus on. After work, they returned home to someone who cared about them, and that was true happiness.
“I know you don’t want me to follow you, so I won’t,” he said.
Lilian paused in her tracks.
Tim also stopped and looked at her.
Suddenly, Lilian wrapped her arms around his neck and pressed her lips passionately against his. With her sweet lips offered to him, Tim knew he couldn’t let this moment slip away.
He seized the opportunity without hesitation.
After the kiss, Lilian whispered in his ear, “Wait for me to come back.” Her eyes sparkled with allure, and her words held deeper meaning.
Tim understood immediately. Without a word, he pulled her in again and kissed her fiercely, leaving her lips slightly swollen. Reluctantly, he let her go, giving her numerous reminders as she grabbed her suitcase and walked away.
She didn’t ask him to see her off.
Tim lingered for a moment before turning to leave, a warm smile on his lips.
From afar, the elderly doctor, cradling his beloved grandson, commented, “Fabian, your parents are so loving that it makes others… envious, jealous, and spiteful.”
Fabian was puzzled by his grandfather’s words. When the old man spoke to him, he babbled in response, as if addressing the grandfather’s concerns.
