Chapter 3554
Clarissa attempted to persuade Erika to forgive Marco, but her efforts were in vain. Erika had lost all hope for their marriage and was resolute in her decision to divorce him. She refused to relinquish her fair share of their property and demanded an equal division.
Despite being the one at fault, Marco wanted Erika to leave with nothing, a notion neither Erika nor her family would entertain.
The divorce process had been prolonged, but Kathryn anticipated it would be resolved before the New Year.
Clarissa wanted Marco to proceed with the divorce, not only to grant Erika her freedom and minimize further conflict but also to ensure that Marco’s children remained with Erika, preserving their bloodline even if something were to happen to the Farrell family.
Clarissa and Holden were committed to keeping their grandchildren close.
Kathryn had been hospitalized for several days and was aware of the events unfolding outside. Prior to her hospitalization, Erika had visited her and confirmed her intention to divorce Marco.
Erika also expressed remorse to Kathryn for her past behavior.
Kathryn empathized with her sisters-in-law.
Life in the Farrell mansion had been challenging for them. With a strong-willed mother-in-law like Clarissa at the helm, they could never truly manage the household. They were required to consult her on every decision, big or small, and faced her anger if they made an error. Their daily lives centered around trying to please her.
While their husbands engaged in infidelity, their in-laws consistently sided with the men. Although Clarissa imposed discipline on her sons, the daughters-in-law still felt unjustly treated.
Even when pursuing divorce, the sisters-in-law found it difficult to retaliate against their husbands, as Clarissa, being their mother, would always support her sons.
Kathryn accepted
Erika’s Apology
Despite being in a contentious divorce with Marco and harboring resentment towards the Farrell family, Erika’s relationship with Kathryn had improved.
“Kathryn, the past is behind us,” Clarissa began. “However, the pain it caused still lingers. Some mistakes can’t be undone just because time has passed. But don’t worry; as long as they don’t provoke me, I won’t take action against them.”
Nevertheless, Kathryn had no intention of assisting her brothers in the future.
“Alright, I won’t push this further. I’m not sure where you inherited this stubbornness and vengefulness. Tell Pedro to come see me now.”
Clarissa expressed her frustration over Kathryn’s temper.
“Mom, I’m your daughter. My personality and temper come from you,” Kathryn responded.
However, Kathryn was not as domineering as her mother. She wouldn’t seek power at any cost. She would fight for what was rightfully hers, but she wouldn’t take what wasn’t.
She preferred to build her own empire fairly.
Clarissa was furious, her expression darkening, but since they were on the phone, Kathryn was unaware.
“…Tell Pedro to come over now!”
Clarissa abruptly ended the call, fearing that if she continued talking, she might feel compelled to reach through the phone and strangle her ungrateful daughter.
