Chapter 3562
Pedro was dedicated to protecting Kathryn for life, regardless of whether he loved her.
Clarissa waved her hand, signaling Pedro to leave. As he stood up, pushed the chair back, and walked away, she observed him. He had a strong, upright posture, and from behind, he appeared quite masculine.
Pedro was also quite attractive, and in many ways, he was a good fit for Kathryn.
Once he had left, Clarissa’s gaze fell on a photo frame in the corner of her desk. It was a family photo taken after Kathryn re-entered her life. In the picture, Kathryn stood beside her but did not touch her. At that moment, they were still strangers to one another, distant and unfamiliar.
In contrast, Shiloh clung to her, holding one of her arms as if to assert her place beside Clarissa.

Clarissa picked up the photo frame and stared at it for a long time. She gently touched Kathryn’s image in the photo, murmuring, “Kathryn, I hope you find more happiness than your mother did.”
Then she touched Shiloh’s image. She still had feelings for Shiloh, but…
When did their relationship change? When did they become strangers?
Clarissa sighed and quietly whispered, “In my next life, if I am a mother again, I hope you will be born as my daughter, and we can be a true mother and daughter.”
Just then, the office door opened.
Mr. Dunn entered, carrying a bag of dinner for Clarissa.
“Madam, please eat something,” Mr. Dunn said kindly, as he unpacked the bag, taking out disposable containers and arranging them on the desk.
Clarissa watched him prepare the meal for a moment before getting up to wash her hands. Not wanting to eat alone, she asked Mr.
Dunn agreed to join her.
“Is Audrey coming?” Clarissa suddenly asked.
Mr. Dunn responded, “I haven’t heard anything about her attending. With the New Year approaching, perhaps she has no plans.”
Clarissa replied, “She will come. Keep an eye on her and Fernando (Mr. Jimenez). She’ll likely arrive with him.”
After not seeing Fernando for decades, Clarissa was surprised to learn that he was still alive. The thought of seeing him again after all these years caught her off guard.
“Fernando is over 90 now. Even if he’s in good health, traveling isn’t easy for him. Wiltspoon is far from Jensburg, and the flight takes over two hours. It’s hard to say whether he’ll make the trip.”
Mr. Jimenez’s real name was Fernando Jimenez, but the younger generation was unaware of this. Even Silver Fox, Ezequiel, always referred to him as “Big Brother.” As a result, the younger generation called him either “Old Grandpa” or “Grandpa Jimenez” after Audrey.
“You don’t understand him. If he’s still alive and has reconnected with Audrey, even if he’s near death, he’ll find a way to return to Jensburg and die at my eldest sister’s grave. He has been devoted to her his entire life; she is the only one he ever loved.”
A wave of sadness washed over Clarissa as she spoke.
Fernando was the only man she had ever loved, and the only man she couldn’t have. He had once been so kind to her.
Clarissa had once thought that Fernando had feelings for her. However, she later realized that his kindness stemmed from her being her elder sister’s little sister, the one her sister had raised. To him, she was simply a child, nothing more.
