Sonny loved little babies—they were small and adorable, much like the little brother at his aunt’s house. Whenever he visited Seren’s home, he would always ask if they could take his little brother home so he could look after him, as he had plenty of toys to share.
Zachary chuckled, saying, “Of course, I still love you, Sonny. I asked about the baby because I’m worried about your aunt and don’t want her to suffer. Don’t you care about her as well?”
Sonny nodded earnestly. “I care about my aunt the most.”
Zachary continued, “So, when I inquire about the baby, it’s because I care about your aunt, just like you do. It’s not about playing favorites. Do you understand, Sonny?”
Sonny blinked, glanced at Serenity, thought for a moment, and then nodded confidently. “I understand, Uncle.”
Zachary praised him, saying, “You’re so smart, Sonny. Your aunt loves you very much.”
Sonny beamed with pride, smiling widely at the compliment.
Serenity laughed as well, finding it amusing how easily Zachary could sway Sonny.
“Did you have fun today, Sonny?” Zachary asked.
“Yes, but sometimes Titus and I argue, and he cries when he loses.”
Sonny’s voice dropped as he admitted this.

Zachary suspected that Sonny probably lost more often than he won.
Sure enough, Serenity playfully pointed this out. “Out of ten arguments, you might win two or three, but sometimes you end up crying too.”
“I’m still young! But when I grow up and become a man, I won’t cry anymore. Men don’t shed tears easily,” Sonny declared seriously, puffing out his chest.
“Titus cries too,” he added, as though it was acceptable as long as he wasn’t the only one.
Serenity burst into laughter. “They have a great time playing together, but they also argue frequently. Both the winner and the loser often end up in tears, yet they’re back to playing again within minutes.”
Children are like that.
No matter how much fun they’re having, arguments and fights will arise, but they quickly reconcile.
When Sonny and Titus bickered, Jane and Serenity typically allowed them to resolve their conflicts independently.
Zachary smiled. “That’s how brotherhood is forged.”
Noticing the dark circles under Serenity’s eyes, Zachary expressed concern, “You look tired. You should get more rest.”
Serenity replied, “I miss you so much that I can’t sleep.”
Zachary’s eyes softened with affection. “I miss you too. Once I finish my work, I’ll fly to FC Manor to pick you both up for the New Year.”
“Uncle, please hurry up with your work and come get us,” Sonny pleaded.
Zachary teased, “Aren’t you having so much fun that you don’t want to leave? I thought you wouldn’t want to go home.”
Sonny replied, “I miss my mom. She said she’d be home before the New Year. I haven’t seen her in a long time, and I miss her.”
Liberty thought to herself: …If I don’t go home soon, my son might forget me.
“This New Year, you might have a new dad. Sonny, do you really like your Uncle Duncan being your father?” Zachary asked gently.
Liberty planned to marry Duncan just before the New Year.
