Defiantly, Clarissa declared, “Audrey, even if I lose, I won’t allow you to take me down!”
Audrey responded, “I don’t want you in my grasp. I want you in the hands of the police.”
The situation was now perfect. Clarissa had drawn a gun and taken a hostage, committing yet another crime. There was no need for more evidence; Clarissa would face justice.
She commanded everyone to back away as she retreated into the house with her hostage.
“Mom, stop being so stubborn!” Kathryn shouted.
“Mom, Kathryn’s right, you shouldn’t…” Marco started, but before he could finish, Clarissa fired a shot into the ground in front of him. The loud bang nearly caused Marco to lose control from fear.
Everyone quickly stepped back, terrified that Clarissa might aim the gun at them next.
“Shut up!” Clarissa yelled at her children. “It’s because of your incompetence that I’m in this situation!”
She blamed Marco for being weak and Kathryn for not supporting her. Clarissa felt isolated, with no one to assist her, unlike Audrey, who had ample support.
“Clarissa, stop making mistakes,” Mr. Jimenez said. “If my master knew what you’ve become, she would be devastated.”
Ignoring the others and fixated on her hostage, Clarissa backed further into the house.
