Chapter 3736
Married At First Sight Chapter 3736
In Chapter 3736 of Married At First Sight, Carrie felt she had grown after coming to this realization. In the past, she would not have understood it.
Love can transcend everything. When you love someone deeply, their flaws appear as strengths. However, when that love fades, even their strengths can become weaknesses.
Carrie smiled and remarked, “Mr. York is a workaholic. Mrs. York must have picked up that habit from him. She’s still working hard, even while pregnant.”
“She’s not pregnant yet, so it’s perfectly fine for her to keep working,” Jasmine replied, then asked, “Is there anything else you need, Mrs. Labbe?”
“No, Mrs. Bucham, I’m leaving now,” Carrie said, sensing Jasmine’s cautious demeanor and realizing she wouldn’t provide any information about Serenity. Additionally, Carrie was aware that she didn’t have a good rapport with these women.
“Take care, Mrs. Labbe,” Jasmine said. She walked Carrie out a few steps before stopping, watching as Carrie left the store and got into her car. The Labbe family’s bodyguard drove her away.
Once they were out of sight of the bookstore, Carrie discarded the papers she had purchased, pulled out her phone, and called Mr. Labbe. He took a long time to answer.
“What is it?” he asked, sounding irritated.
Carrie could sense his impatience and hesitated. She didn’t have anything significant to say—she just wanted to talk to him since she hadn’t received any useful information from Jasmine.
Her silence only fueled Mr. Labbe’s anger. Before she could respond, he snapped, “Carrie, do you think I have all the time in the world? I’m busy. Don’t call me unless it’s important!”
“I provide you with good food and a place to stay, yet you can’t accomplish anything for me. And you keep calling—it’s so annoying,” he ranted, throwing in some harsh insults.
Carrie contemplated hanging up. In the past, she would have done so without a second thought. Growing up, her parents had spoiled her, and she was always surrounded by people who catered to her needs. No one had ever treated her the way Mr. Labbe did.
However, she knew how ruthless Mr. Labbe could be; she was aware of his capacity for violence. Despite his mistreatment, she dared not lose her temper, knowing she had no one else to depend on. At least Mr. Labbe provided her with money, a luxury car, and a large villa to live in. He even promised that one day, the house and car would be hers—as long as she continued to follow his orders.
After venting his frustration, Mr. Labbe calmed down, softening his tone as he asked, “So, why did you call? Tell me.”
“I tried to get information from Jasmine, but I didn’t find out anything,” Carrie replied quietly. Mr. Labbe took a few deep breaths; she was still useful to him, so he refrained from scolding her again, despite his irritation at her calling about such a trivial matter.
“And… I miss you,” Carrie added, her voice softening like a child seeking attention. “The New Year is approaching, and I don’t have many people in my life. You’re my only support and source of warmth. I miss you. Can you spend the New Year with me or take me to your house to celebrate?”
Mr. Labbe’s mood lifted. Even though he was using Carrie, having a young, beautiful woman so enamored with him bolstered his ego and made him feel good about himself.
