Chapter 3817
Serenity asked, “So, Miss Caron, are you and Young Master Bucham planning to obtain your marriage certificate before the New Year?”
Kiera nodded and replied, “Yes, tomorrow morning around nine, we’re going to the Civil Affairs Bureau to get our marriage certificate.”
Serenity immediately congratulated her, saying, “Kiera, congratulations! You’re going to be so happy with Young Master Bucham, and you won’t have to worry about him changing his mind. He’s committed to you alone.”
Kiera blushed and responded, “Miss York, please don’t laugh at me, but what touches me the most is that he truly only reacts to me. Just like you said, I don’t have to worry about him changing his mind; he doesn’t have feelings for other women.”
She had recently learned about Julian’s condition, but she was open to accepting it. Furthermore, since meeting him, they had gotten along well, and Julian had shown himself to be the kind of husband she desired. Her family had thoroughly researched him—her father even traveled to Wiltspoon to investigate the Bucham family’s reputation and Julian’s character. After finding them to be respectable, her father approved of their relationship.
Regarding the Bucham family’s high social status, her father had confidently remarked, “Is our Caron family any less distinguished?” Kiera agreed; her family’s status was not low, and she felt they were a suitable match for the Bucham family.
Serenity smiled and assured her, “Why would I laugh at you? Any woman in your position would be touched by a man like Julian, or at least consider giving him a chance.”
“Let’s sit down,” Serenity continued. “I have a heavy belly now and tire easily.”
After settling on a bench by the roadside, Serenity habitually placed her hand on
She felt a gentle kick in response to her touch on her belly. Each time she did it, the baby reacted. Kiera looked at her belly with a warm smile and asked, “Is the baby moving?”
“Yes, it is,” Serenity replied, “but not too much. I think it has a calm temperament. People say a person’s personality begins to form in the womb.”
“Just like his father,” Kiera chuckled. “Young Master York is also calm. He must be looking forward to the birth of your child.”
“Don’t only talk about him,” Serenity responded, smiling. “I’m excited too.”
As she withdrew her hand from her belly, Serenity continued, “This is our first time being parents. I’ve cared for babies before, like my nephew Sonny, but he’s not my child—it’s different.”
“It’s just a shame it’s not a girl,” Serenity confessed. She had secretly wished for a daughter, especially whenever she saw Avah, which made her empathize with her grandmother’s desire for a little girl in their large family.
“You can always try for a second,” Kiera encouraged. “Families like yours are not under financial pressure. The third-child policy is relaxed now; you could aim for both a son and a daughter.”
“Maybe,” Serenity said thoughtfully. “But let’s wait a few years until this one is old enough for kindergarten. If the second child is also a boy, I’ll stop trying. I don’t want to risk the loneliness of having just one child. Having two would be beneficial for companionship.”
She valued the positive family atmosphere in her husband’s home and felt confident that they would raise their children well.
