Chapter 3861
Liberty hesitated. “We just got back, and I haven’t prepared any gifts. It would feel wrong to arrive empty-handed at your family’s home.” She paused for a moment. “Let me check if I have anything here that could serve as gifts. I think I have some nutritional supplements—I’ll bring those for your parents. Then, I might pick up some small presents for your nieces and nephews. As for your sisters-in-law, I could give them some jewelry and skincare products that I haven’t used yet.”
Liberty had received plenty of jewelry and skincare items over time, primarily as gifts from her sister Serenity, her aunt Audrey, and her cousin Elisa. She rarely bought anything for herself; the jewelry she wore now, along with most of her skincare products and clothes, came from Duncan. Whenever she tried to refuse his gifts, he insisted it was a sign of her accepting his love, so she reluctantly agreed to keep them.
As she spoke, Liberty began gathering the supplements from her cabinet. She had quite a few—after Serenity became pregnant, people sent various nutritional gifts, which she shared with Liberty. However, after working hard to regain her slim figure, Liberty was careful with her diet, only indulging occasionally.
“Mom, are we going to Uncle Duncan’s house?” Sonny asked eagerly. “I can prepare gifts for my cousins! I have lots of new toys and dolls I could give them. The dolls can go to the girls, and I’ll give the boys some of my toys.”
Sonny already understood that his cousins had different preferences, and he was excited to share. During past visits, he’d noticed that the girls had many dolls in their rooms and knew they would love his gifts.
Duncan chuckled as he watched Liberty and Sonny bustle about. “You two are already on it! Honestly, Liberty, you don’t need to bring anything. Soon we’ll be family, and every time you…”
Bringing gifts feels a bit formal. Just come as if it’s your own home. My family has everything we need, and if you bring too much, my parents will feel compelled to comment on it.”
Duncan walked over to Liberty, steadying himself against the cabinet. “My brothers don’t need anything. As for my sisters-in-law, if you really want to bring something, just skincare products will do. Jewelry isn’t necessary; they have so much they could open their own store! Honestly, you and Sonny coming over is more than enough. If you bring gifts, we’ll need two cars just to carry everything back!”
Despite his words, Liberty continued packing. “We’re close to becoming family, but we aren’t there yet. I haven’t visited in a while, and it feels right to bring something.”
Sonny scampered upstairs, eager to gather the toys and dolls he had chosen for his cousins.
Duncan smiled and added, “Trust me, Liberty, my mom will be thrilled just to see you and Sonny. She’s been saying how much she misses him—he went off to FC Manor with Serenity after winter break and just got back.”
Liberty smiled. “He’s been…
I can’t stop talking about playing with Titus. It’s unfortunate that Titus can’t visit more frequently; he only comes back during longer breaks, like winter or summer.
