Married At First Sight Chapter 3992
Chapter 3992
With Kevin and Callum focusing on their weddings and honeymoons for the next two to three months, the responsibility of managing the family business naturally reverted to Zachary.
Meanwhile, Evan, Elian, and Tatum were still busy pursuing their future wives, River lacked experience, and Alex had yet to officially enter the business world.
The old lady had already organized a large-scale business banquet, insisting that Zachary bring Alex along for his public debut. This event would formally introduce Alex as the eighth young master of the York family. Following the banquet, she planned to assign him various roles within the family business. This tradition required that each York brother hold multiple positions at the outset to gain valuable experience.
However, before that, Alex would begin building his own investments.
Zachary, however, was reluctant to support his grandmother’s plan. “Take Alex yourself,” he told her flatly. He had no interest in attending banquets, especially at this time. Serenity was pregnant and due in just three months—how could he leave her to go to a party?
Furthermore, tradition dictated that Grandma herself always led the York brothers’ introductions to the business world. If she skipped this for Alex, it might hurt his feelings and lead him to believe she favored his older brothers.
Despite her age, the old lady still brimmed with energy. If Zachary hadn’t been keeping a close watch on her, she would have been sneaking out at every chance. She enjoyed staying active and social. Given her enthusiasm, Zachary thought it only fair to let her take Alex to the banquet.
Recently, if the old lady wasn’t busy, she would spend entire days at the foot of the mountain playing cards with her friends. She played so often that Sam had
to deliver her meals since she wouldn’t be home for dinner. Her card-playing friends were beginning to dread her company. The old lady had a talent for winning, and although she generously treated everyone to food when she did, their wallets were taking a hit. Yet, they couldn’t refuse to play. They feared that declining might lead to complications for their children and grandchildren at work—even if the York family wasn’t the type to create such issues. Their only hope now was that the York family would find something—anything—to keep the old lady occupied.
“Fine,” Serenity said, though she was starting to feel a bit fatigued. Elisa often urged her to rest at home and avoid socializing, but Serenity found herself becoming bored. Still, for the sake of everyone’s peace of mind, she agreed to reduce her visits to the office.
To fill her time, she planned to invite Jasmine over or visit the Bucham family, where she and Jasmine could spend hours discussing pregnancy, motherhood, and raising their children. That alone would help the days pass more quickly. When she truly needed something to do, she could resume her knitting. This year was the Year of the Pig, and Serenity had already crafted several charming pig-themed ornaments and toys for the baby.
Zachary had pouted about it for two days, joking that despite being married for years, Serenity had never knitted zodiac decorations for him. When she offered to create one for him, he stubbornly declined, claiming he didn’t want her to overexert herself. However, it was evident that Zachary was feeling envious. Their child hadn’t even been born yet, and he was already vying for attention. Serenity could only imagine how jealous Zachary might become once the baby arrived—especially if it turned out to be a son.
“Unless it’s a daughter,” Serenity thought with a smile.
She didn’t dare to wish for a daughter as her firstborn, but she hoped their second child would be a girl. This way, she wouldn’t have to try for a third just to have one of each. Later that day, Zachary took Serenity to the hospital for a prenatal checkup. By the time they left, it was nearly dinnertime, so Zachary brought her home for a meal. After dinner and a brief rest, he reluctantly returned to the company to handle business.
