Married At First Sight Chapter 3995
Chapter 3995
Marco and his brothers were filled with rage. It was clear that no one in the room would support their position.
“Kathryn, let’s pause this meeting and discuss it outside,” Marco suggested, making one last desperate effort to influence her.
Kathryn’s expression was icy as she responded, “Marco, the only reason you and our brothers are here today is because of your roles in managing Farrell Group—not because of our family ties. I want to remind you that no one has the right to meddle in the internal affairs of the Farrell family.
“We have nothing more to discuss. Last year, you reached out to me numerous times, and I provided my answer each time. If something does not belong to me, I will not take it. Had Mom inherited the family leadership from her sister, or if our grandmother had directly passed it down to her, I would not be stepping aside today. But that is not the case, and you all know it.
“We both understand how Mom attained her position—through deceit, betrayal, and harm. She committed many terrible acts. Rather than clinging to what does not belong to us, we should be atoning for her actions. If you three still disagree with me, feel free to resign and leave.”
Her words weighed heavily in the room.
Kathryn had spent the past year trying to convince her father and brothers to leave Jensburg. Time and again, she urged them to relinquish the family business, but they remained obstinate. Their unwillingness to give up the status and power they enjoyed had kept them firmly in place.
Months passed, and the New Year came and went. Kathryn had hoped that the holiday would bring them clarity, but it did not.
The nieces and nephews returned to school after the break, and for the sake of their children’s education, Marco and his brothers found yet another reason to stay.
Another excuse to remain in Jensburg. Kathryn had done everything she could to reason with them. She had spoken, pleaded, and even issued warnings. Yet, in the end, they ignored her— not even their elderly father, Holden.
For a time, she had thought they were finally leaving. During the New Year celebrations, they left Jensburg to visit the old Janzen family home, and Pedro assured her they wouldn’t return. However, after the holidays, when Marco and his brothers appeared at Farrell Group as if nothing had happened, Kathryn realized how naïve she had been.
Marco and his brothers had always aspired to seize power. Even when their mother, Clarissa, was alive, they schemed and plotted behind the scenes, but they lacked the ability and courage to make any significant moves. When Kathryn returned to the family, they shifted their focus. They aligned themselves with Shiloh, favoring her over Kathryn and encouraging her to challenge Kathryn’s authority. They formed cliques within the company, doing everything possible to undermine Kathryn’s efforts to learn the ropes. They hoped that by keeping her uninformed, she wouldn’t be able to take control, leaving the door open for them to seize power.
Among the brothers, Marco was the most ambitious. Time and again, he pressured his mother to change the clan rules to allow male descendants of the direct bloodline to inherit leadership. He argued that lineage should matter more than gender.
Clarissa had considered his suggestion and even entertained the idea of revising the rules to include both sons and daughters. However, in the end, she dismissed it. No one understood her sons better than she did. Clarissa was aware that entrusting Farrell Group to her sons would spell disaster. Marco, Noel, and the youngest brother simply…
They were not equipped for the challenge. They lacked the vision, discipline, and leadership essential to manage a company of this scale. Transferring the family legacy to them would only hasten its decline. Clarissa had dedicated decades of her life to Farrell Group, traveling tirelessly to secure business deals, attract investors, and keep the company afloat. Despite her relentless efforts, she had barely managed to stabilize it. Farrell Group never regained its former dominance from its golden years.
The only thing preserving the Farrell family’s reputation was its century-old legacy in Jensburg. Without that foundation, the family would have already fallen from the ranks of the city’s elite. Clarissa could not risk it.
Most importantly, she had a daughter. At that time, she was unaware that Shiloh was not her biological child. However, even if she had known, Shiloh’s lack of ability would have given her pause. Shiloh was far from capable of navigating the ruthless business world. Clarissa had come to terms with the reality that, at best, Shiloh might be able to maintain the family’s existing wealth—but she would never be able to grow it or restore the Farrell family’s former glory.
