Chapter 3998
“I look forward to collaborating with all of you,” Liberty stated, her voice steady yet warm. The room burst into applause.
Liberty valued action over mere words. While she was uncertain about the thoughts of the senior managers, it was clear that those who relied on flattery without any real competence felt uneasy. After all, a new leader often initiates changes, and Liberty was not one to shy away from substantial reforms. Her “fires” as the new president could potentially exceed ten rather than just three.
The Farrell Group was privately owned, with the Farrell family holding 100% of its shares and the family head exerting complete control. This structure granted Liberty, as the new president, absolute authority.
In the past, clan elders had influence over company affairs. However, after Clarissa ascended to power, she systematically sidelined the elders. Those who opposed her faced mysterious and untimely fates, while the others either lacked the strength or the courage to confront her. Now, the president’s word was final.
Employees who had advanced by aligning with Shiloh or the Marco brothers were beginning to feel anxious. With their former allies no longer in the picture, they feared that their days of easy promotions were over.
Some were already contemplating resignation, believing that leaving on their own terms was preferable to being dismissed. If even the three Janzen brothers, who served as vice presidents, could be ousted by President Farrell, how could their loyal followers expect to remain?
Kathryn, leading the meeting, asked the senior managers to introduce themselves to Liberty. This was an opportunity for her to memorize their names and understand their roles.
The meeting extended into the evening, and when it finally concluded, Kathryn and Liberty lingered as the attendees gradually departed.
The room had emptied out, leaving only Kathryn, Liberty, and Pedro behind. Kathryn turned to Liberty and said, “Take your time to familiarize yourself with the company. If you ever have any questions, feel free to ask me. With your sharp mind, I’m confident that you will have a solid understanding of Farrell Group within a month.
“There’s a business reception tonight, and I’d like us to attend together. For this first month, I’ll be here to guide you. Starting next month, though, you’ll take the lead.”
Liberty nodded, determination shining in her eyes. “Understood. I’ll give it my all. But Kathryn, are you really leaving? The conflicts of the past generation have been resolved. You are a person of integrity and reason, and we’re not the type to hold a grudge without cause. You don’t have to leave your hometown.”
Liberty and Kathryn shared a mutual respect. Had Clarissa not taken Liberty’s grandmother’s life, they might have been not only allies but also family. Liberty didn’t want Kathryn to leave Jensburg.
However, Kathryn smiled softly, her resolve unshaken. “I know you won’t hold anything against me. I’ve acted according to my conscience. But as the former head of the Farrell family, with my mother’s dark deeds overshadowing my name, the clan harbors deep resentment toward her.
“If I stay in Jensburg, they’ll always be uneasy, fearing that I could revert to villainy at any moment. By leaving, I provide them peace of mind, allowing them to focus entirely on following your leadership without hesitation or division.
“My company will remain here for now, but when I find a new city to settle in, I’ll gradually move my operations there. Jensburg will always be my hometown, and I’ll visit whenever I can. And on every Qingming…”
“Festival, I will come back to honor our ancestors alongside you.” Although her words had a definitive tone, Kathryn spoke calmly and reassuringly. It was evident that she had found peace with her choice, despite its bittersweet nature.
