Hank was concerned that Liberty might become aggressive with Jessica in his absence.
Thinking back to the night Liberty caught him and Jessica at the hotel made his legs feel weak. Liberty had been merciless when she confronted Jessica.
Liberty said coldly, “I don’t want to get my hands dirty by hitting her. Don’t worry, I’ll return her to you in perfect condition.”
“Liberty, why can’t I be present when it’s our business?”
Hank remained anxious.
Liberty had fought back when he hit her and even chased him down a few blocks with a knife, making Hank realize she was capable of anything when angered.
“This is a negotiation between a wife and a mistress, so a scumbag like you can f*ck off.”
Hank was left speechless.
He glared at Liberty, reluctantly stood up, and walked out.
Once Hank left, Jessica brushed her hair back and asked, “So, what do you want to discuss with me?”
“Liberty, Hank loves me now. If you don’t want to make this worse than it is, I suggest you divorce Hank as soon as possible.”
“Don’t worry,” Liberty replied calmly. “I’m not trying to take Hank from you. He doesn’t care about me anymore, so there’s no need for me to fight for him.”
Liberty could thrive without Hank; life would go on just fine.
In fact, Liberty might even be better off without him.
“Ms. Yates, you’re younger than I was and had just graduated from college when you met Hank. Do you really want to be a stepmother to a two-and-a-half-year-old boy?”

If you discipline Sonny, others will accuse you of bullying your stepson. If you don’t show any concern for him, they’ll say you’re neglecting him since he’s not your biological child. No matter what you do, you’ll be the one blamed.”
Jessica’s expression was troubled. She didn’t want to be a stepmother to Sonny.
Still young, Jessica knew that Hank would eventually become her husband, and she would definitely want her own children in the future. She wouldn’t have the time or energy to care for her own children, let alone someone else’s.
Liberty was right. Being a stepmother was challenging because, to outsiders, all stepmothers were viewed as cruel.

Yet, Hank was determined to fight for Sonny’s custody, and Jessica’s future in-laws were unwilling to give him up.

Sonny would be cared for by her future in-laws and would not be living with her.
