“Okay.” Su Zhifei nodded and pulled out his phone. He found Gu Qiuyi’s number and dialed it.

But instead of connecting, he heard a message: “Sorry, the user you are calling has been turned off. Please try again later.”

Seeing that Gu Qiuyi had turned off her computer added to his confusion. Su Zhifei didn’t know that her phone had been in Do Not Disturb mode for a long time. In this mode, only a few approved contacts could reach her, and everyone else would get the shutdown message.

Worried, Su Zhifei quickly asked someone to check if Gu Qiuyi had registered at Jinling Airport, but there was no record of her arrival. He instinctively thought that she might have been delayed in Yanjing due to some issue and could be taking another flight to Jinling soon. So, he ordered his team to drive to Jinling Airport and also called his friends at the railway station to see if Gu Qiuyi had bought a high-speed train ticket.

In his mind, the only ways for Gu Qiuyi to travel from Yanjing to Jinling were by plane or high-speed rail. If he focused on these two options, he was sure he would find her.

However, as he waited until nearly midnight, he grew more anxious. Gu Qiuyi still hadn’t shown up, and his friends at the airport and railway station had no updates.

This left Su Zhifei puzzled. He knew how important the performance was to Gu Qiuyi. It was set to start the next day, and she needed to finish her rehearsal today. It didn’t make sense for her to miss it. But without any way to contact her or find out what was happening, he felt stuck.

Su Zhifei felt a bit anxious as time ticked away. With just two or three minutes left until midnight, he decided to abandon his plan to pick Gu Qiuyi up from the airport. Instead, he thought it would be better to check the venue first. He worried that if Gu Qiuyi arrived for her rehearsal on time while he was still at the airport waiting for her, it would be a disaster.

Realizing this, he quickly drove to the Olympic Center. Just as his car entered the gates, Charlie Wade was dropping off Gu Qiuyi at the VIP entrance at the back of the venue. Chen Duoduo had already arranged for staff to block the entrances and exits to keep fans out.

When Charlie Wade parked, Gu Qiuyi turned to him and said, “Thank you, Brother Charlie Wade, for bringing me here. I’m heading in now!”

Charlie Wade asked, “Do you want me to come with you for the rehearsal?”

Gu Qiuyi quickly replied, “No, that’s not necessary! The dress rehearsal is confidential. I can’t let you see anything or it will ruin the surprise for tomorrow’s performance. You should go take care of your own things!”

Charlie Wade nodded and said, “Alright, I’ll leave then. Call me if you need anything.”

Gu Qiuyi smiled and playfully reminded him, “Don’t forget to pick up my parents tomorrow!”

“Okay!” Charlie Wade agreed. “You focus on your work, I’ll be going now.”

“Goodbye, Charlie Wade!” she said.

At the same moment, Su Zhifei drove into the VIP channel. As a partner of the event’s organizer, he had been using this channel for the past few days, so the staff waved him through without hesitation.

As soon as Su Zhifei drove into the VIP area, he saw Gu Qiuyi getting out of a plain BMW 520. She smiled and waved to the driver inside the car.

From his angle, Su Zhifei couldn’t see the driver’s face, but he could make out the short hairstyle of Charlie Wade. It was clear that he was a man.

At that moment, Su Zhifei felt a rush of anger. He clenched his teeth and muttered, “Damn it! I waited for you all afternoon, and now you’re with another man! I checked the airport and the train station, and there was no sign of you. But now you’re in Jinling, which means you’re avoiding me on purpose!”
