Chapter: 3009
Charlie Wade drove to Buckingham Palace with Gu Qiuyi. They took the internal elevator to the room her team had booked.
As soon as they entered, Gu Qiuyi quickly dashed to the sofa, flopping down dramatically. “Oh my god, getting up early to catch a plane is really tiring!” she exclaimed.
Charlie Wade smiled and replied, “If you’re tired, take a break first. We’ll go to dinner when you’re ready.”
Gu Qiuyi perked up and asked, “Brother Charlie Wade, where are we going to eat?”
“Anywhere you want,” Charlie said. “If you’re okay with it, we can eat at the dining department of Buckingham Palace. If not, we can go to Hongwu’s Tianxiang Mansion.”
Gu Qiuyi quickly shook her head. “Oh, let’s skip Tianxiang Mansion. It’s too much hassle, and I have a rehearsal at one o’clock. I need to save time.”
Then she suggested, “Brother Charlie Wade, how about we have the catering department send some food to the room? You can eat with me here.”
Charlie nodded. “If you’d rather not move, I’ll have Old Chen arrange for that.”
“That would be great!” Gu Qiuyi said eagerly.
Charlie called Chen Zekai and asked him to arrange for some special dishes to be delivered to Gu Qiuyi’s room around 11:30. Chen Zekai rushed to the food and beverage department to ensure everything was perfect.
Meanwhile, at 10:30 in the morning, Su Zhifei’s motorcade was waiting at the entrance of the stadium, ready to go to the airport to welcome Gu Qiuyi. They were keen to keep track of her arrival.
Su Zhifei wanted to know about Gu Qiuyi’s private jet. He asked someone to check if the plane was at the airport, if it was getting ready to leave, and when it would take off. Just as he was about to head to the airport, he received a message from Yanjing saying that Gu Qiuyi’s flight had been canceled for the day.
Surprised, Su Zhifei called to ask, “Did you say Gu Qiuyi’s flight was canceled? What’s going on? Is it because of bad weather in Yanjing? Is there a thunderstorm or strong winds?”
The person on the other end replied simply, “It’s just a light breeze, and the sky is clear.”
Frowning, Su Zhifei pressed on, “Is there traffic control?”
“Traffic is normal,” was the straightforward reply.
“What’s happening then?” Su Zhifei asked, confused. “Flights only get canceled for bad weather or traffic control!”
The other person explained, “There’s another reason: the passenger might have chosen to cancel the flight. If something changes for them, the plane can’t just fly without them.”
Feeling uneasy, Su Zhifei hung up the phone and went back inside the stadium. He approached Chen Duoduo, who was busy working. “Duo Duo, what time is Miss Gu arriving today?”
Chen Duoduo acted surprised. “Qiuyi is supposed to start rehearsal at one o’clock this afternoon. Didn’t I tell you that?”
Su Zhifei held back his frustration. “I meant to ask when she would fly over. I just found out that her plane has canceled today’s flight.”
With a surprised look, Chen Duoduo said, “Really? I haven’t heard about this, and she didn’t tell me.”
Su Zhifei replied, “But you’re her agent. Don’t you know when she will arrive in Jinling today?”
Chen Duoduo shook her head seriously. “Master Su, that’s not right. I really don’t know when she will get here. She didn’t ask me to arrange a pick-up. She only mentioned she would be at the venue after one o’clock.”
Su Zhifei glanced at her limited-edition Richard Mille watch and frowned. “It’s 11 o’clock now. If there are any delays, she won’t make it to the venue on time.”
Then, Su Zhifei said, “I’ll call Miss Gu.”
Chen Duoduo responded, “Master Su, if there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave.”
