Chapter: 3041
Early the next morning, Charlie Wade and Xiao Churan had breakfast together, just like they did the day before. After that, they drove to the old house in the historic part of the city.
Xiao Churan told Charlie that Du Haiqing had put a lot of effort into fixing up the house, paying close attention to even the smallest details. While they were in the car, Xiao Churan sighed and said, “The customer we met yesterday, Aunt Du, originally wanted a renovation plan that cost over 2 million yuan. That was already a significant amount for fixing her old house. But she kept changing the plan yesterday and bumped the budget up to 10 million yuan.”
She continued, “I’ve noticed that wealthy people often don’t care about the costs. This house probably won’t sell for more than 1 million yuan, and the government won’t allow any major changes to the outside. It’s hard to understand why she wants to spend so much on the interior. With 10 million yuan, she could almost buy an entire alley!”
Charlie smiled and replied, “Maybe this old house means something special to her, which is why she wants to invest so much in it.”
“True,” Xiao Churan agreed. “Aunt Du mentioned that she wants to live here in her old age, but her accent sounds like it’s from Yanjing. I wonder why she chose to come to Jinling for retirement.”
She added, “By the way, I heard that Aunt Du’s daughter lives here with her too, and her daughter has the same accent from Yanjing.”
Charlie nodded and smiled. “Actually, living in Jinling is much nicer than in Yanjing. In Yanjing, summers are hotter than in the south, winters are extremely cold, and spring and autumn are very short.”
After October, the weather starts to warm up in March and April of the following year. The most notable thing is that it tends to be very dry, with strong winds blowing throughout the day. In previous years, there were even sandstorms. While the last two years have improved, the environment is still much harsher compared to the south. You can really see how nice it is in Jinling, where the air is humid, and the four seasons are distinct.
Xiao Churan laughed and said, “You talk as if you know Yanjing well. Have you ever lived there?”
Charlie Wade smiled back and replied, “I visited Yanjing recently to help a client with Feng Shui. The client was quite unhappy. It seems that people from the north often dream of living in the south. Just look at the northeast; it’s cold all year round, and the people there really long for warmth, especially from the South China Sea.”
Xiao Churan nodded, agreeing, “So you’re saying the weather in Jinling is definitely better than in the north.”
Then she added, “By the way, Aunt Du seems to like you. She’s been asking about you. She mentioned she would love for you to come and check her place for Feng Shui. If you have time, it would be nice for you to visit her. She’s really lovely.”
Charlie Wade frowned a bit. He thought it was strange that Du Haiqing didn’t know his true identity yet was bringing this up with Xiao Churan. He casually replied, “I probably looked at her place last time I went. The Feng Shui there is already pretty good. There’s no need for changes right now. If she really wants to adjust something, we can talk about it later when the timing is better.”
“Okay,” Xiao Churan said, unaware that Charlie Wade was just brushing her off.
Charlie nodded and said, “After the meeting, I’ll talk to Aunt Du.”
He then dropped Xiao Churan off at the old house. Just as she stepped out of the car, Du Haiqing came out of the yard. She smiled and said, “Churan is here!”
Xiao Churan smiled back and replied, “Hello, Auntie Du. I’ve made some adjustments to the last plan. You can take a look at it later.”
“Great!” Du Haiqing said, nodding. She waved to Charlie, who was sitting in the driver’s seat, and said, “Hello, Mr. Ye. It’s nice to see you again.”
Charlie lowered the car window and smiled, “Hello, Aunt Du. I’ll stay in the car since I have something to take care of later.”
