Gu Qiuyi looked at him affectionately and said softly, “Brother Charlie Wade, I still want to sing you a happy birthday song like I did when we were kids! You can make a wish while I sing, and when I’m done, you can blow out the candles.”
Charlie nodded and smiled. “Okay!”

While she sang, Charlie closed his eyes and made a silent wish. When Gu Qiuyi finished singing, Charlie quickly blew out the 27 candles on the five-layer cake, one by one.

Charlie Wade smiled knowingly when Gu Qiuyi said, “Brother Charlie Wade, I hope you marry this jerk soon!” He understood her feelings but didn’t know how to explain everything, so he just played along.
At that moment, Lin Wanqiu handed Charlie a knife for cutting the cake. “Chen’er, you’re the birthday star. You cut the cake first! Everyone will enjoy a couple of bites, and then we can start the meal!”
“Okay, Aunt Lin!” Charlie replied eagerly. He used the knife to cut a few pieces from the bottom layer of the cake, placing them on small plates to hand out to everyone.
After that, Gu Yanzhong pulled Charlie back to the dinner table where they started enjoying some drinks. Gu Yanzhong raised his glass and said, “Chen’er, I’ve said thank you too many times. I won’t keep repeating myself. Let me toast you on behalf of our family!”
Charlie politely accepted the glass and replied, “Thank you, Uncle Gu!” They both drank from their glasses.
Gu Yanzhong continued, “Chen’er, your parents passed away when you were young. Since I was close to your father, I wished I could have taken care of you and treated you like my own child. But for so many years, I couldn’t find you. You’ve been missing for nearly 20 years in your 27 years of life, and there’s a lot of regret…”
He sighed and added sincerely, “From now on, I just hope to celebrate more birthdays with you.”
