Chapter: 3150
Su Chengfeng shook his head and said, “I don’t know the answer. People had many opinions back then, but no one has clear proof. Over time, this issue has faded, and no one is interested in uncovering the full story.”
Wan Pojun scoffed and replied, “It seems like thinking strategically isn’t enough anymore! To make a mark in this world, you need to be smart and strong! If Ye Changying had even a fraction of the power I have in the Dragon Palace, he wouldn’t have died so young!”
Su Chengfeng was taken aback for a moment but quickly smiled and said, “You’re right, Wan Pojun! Nowadays, it doesn’t help to just be clever and skilled in both civilian and military matters!”
He then added, “To me, you are the perfect example of someone who excels in both. The future looks bright for you and the Wanlong Palace! Let’s toast to that!”
Wan Pojun smiled back, raising his glass to Su Chengfeng. “Once I gain control of the Wanlong Temple in Syria and move my parents’ coffin to Wanling Mountain, it will take about three to five years for Wanlong Temple to fully establish itself in Syria and spread throughout the Middle East. By then, I will be the king of mercenaries!”
Becoming the king of mercenaries was Wan Pojun’s second major goal in life. His first goal, of course, was to avenge his parents. He believed he was getting closer to achieving both goals. The situation in Syria looked promising, and he was confident that victory would come before the Qingming Festival.
At that point, his four great war kings would gather in Yanjing, take down the Ye family, and then focus on developing in Syria. Everything seemed to be falling into place!
And just as Wan Pojun felt on top of the world…
At the wine table, news from Syria took an unexpected turn. Lu Zhanjun, who was leading a thousand soldiers from the Dragon Temple through a valley, was unaware of the dangers ahead.
As cannons boomed in the distance, the soldiers quietly followed a narrow gully along the mountainside, making their way toward the west side of the Hamid base. Lu Zhanjun had chosen a secretive route, mostly made up of valleys and slopes that were hard to spot from the high ground where Hamid’s troops were stationed. He believed that the sound of the shelling would mask their movements, making it unlikely for Hamid’s forces to know that part of his army had left the main battlefield.
The mountain path was rough, and to avoid detection, they had carefully planned a winding route. This meant that even though they were hurrying, it took longer to travel the larger circle. Lu Zhanjun had thought he had everything under control, believing he could move swiftly and safely. However, he had no idea that from the moment he set out, Hamid’s drone had been tracking his troops from above.
Now, Hamid was ready with a deadly trap, just waiting for Lu Zhanjun to walk right into it.
