The shooting holes in these fortifications were blocked with fist-sized gravel and then covered with a layer of dirt. This made them blend in perfectly with the rocky, dirt-filled mountains, making them very hard to detect. Additionally, the team had left a few small openings for soldiers inside to observe the outside without being seen. The camouflage was incredibly effective.
This type of gravel is easy to handle and remove. When it’s time to shoot, you can simply pick it up with your fingers, grab all the gravel, and then aim your weapon and fire with full force.
