- The Amazing Son-in-Law [The Charismatic Charlie Wade] (Chinese name) Chapter: 4468
Liu Jiahui felt a sense of relief when he noticed that Charlie Wade seemed to like his daughter. He thought, “The bait is set; now we just wait for him to take the hook.”
After finishing his meal, Liu Jiahui said, “Mr. Ye, I have some matters to attend to this afternoon. I won’t be able to join you, but my daughter Manqiong will keep you company and show you around Hong Kong Island.”
Charlie nodded and replied, “That’s perfectly fine. I’m happy to spend time with Miss Manqiong.”
Liu Jiahui smiled and told his daughter, “Manqiong, please take good care of Mr. Ye.”
Without hesitation, Liu Manqiong asked, “When will you arrange the 50 million donation you promised me?”
Liu Jiahui responded casually, “If you behave, I’ll have the finance team transfer the money to your foundation’s account within three days.”
Liu Manqiong nodded and said, “Mr. Ye is here to witness this, so you must keep your word.”
“Of course!” Liu Jiahui replied, his tone serious. “I’ve known you for many years; when have I ever broken a promise?”
Charlie felt a wave of disgust wash over him at those words. He didn’t know how many times Liu Jiahui had gone back on his word, but he remembered how Liu Jiahui failed to honor a promise he made to Charlie’s father after he passed away.
Liu Manqiong, unaware of this history, felt reassured by her father’s statement and said, “That’s great!”
Charlie glanced at Liu Jiahui, wanting to ask if he remembered Ye Changying and the agreement they had. But then he thought it over; if he brought it up now, Liu Jiahui would surely realize that Charlie’s visit to Hong Kong Island was connected to Chen.
Charlie Wade decided not to discuss cooperation with Zhaozhong. He thought that Zhaozhong might have figured out his identity, especially since they shared a surname, Ye, and he resembled his father. Charlie felt it was best to keep his identity a secret for now, especially since he had traveled over 10,000 kilometers to Hong Kong Island.
Turning to Liu Manqiong, he smiled and said, “Miss Liu, since we’ve finished eating, why don’t we head out?”
Liu Manqiong agreed, “Sure, let’s go.”
Charlie stood up and addressed Liu Jiahui and Fang Jiaxin, “Mr. Liu and Mrs. Liu, thank you for your hospitality. Miss Liu and I are going for a walk.”
Liu Jiahui smiled back, “That sounds good. Enjoy your time together, Mr. Ye. We can discuss business tomorrow.”
As they left the restaurant, Liu Manqiong turned to Charlie and said, “Mr. Ye, please wait a moment. I need to go upstairs to get something.”
Charlie asked, “Do you need my help, Miss Manqiong?”
“No, it’s just some personal items,” she replied casually. “Please wait here. I’ll be right back.”
“Okay,” Charlie nodded.
Liu Manqiong took the elevator upstairs, and soon she came back down holding a cardboard box.
Charlie stepped forward and offered, “Let me help you with that, Miss Manqiong.”
She smiled and said, “Thank you, Mr. Ye.”
