- The Amazing Son-in-Law [The Charismatic Charlie Wade] (Chinese name) Chapter: 4470
Tsim Sha Tsui is a bustling commercial hub on Hong Kong Island, known for its shopping.
Liu Manqiong and her classmates have been busy raising money for a charity sale on Tsim Sha Tsui Commercial Street. Originally, Liu planned to return the next day, but around noon, her friend Liu Jiahui called her home from school. Later that afternoon, Liu promised to show Charlie Wade around, so she decided to take the items for the charity sale with her.
Liu Manqiong wasn’t sure where to take Charlie. Most of her time is spent between home and school, and she doesn’t have many activities besides charity work. Since she was tasked with showing Charlie around, she thought it would be easier to just take him along with her plans.
Charlie Wade had visited Hong Kong Island a few times as a child. He remembered it being crowded with people and cars, and the streets were narrow, which made him less interested in the sights. So, he agreed to join Liu Manqiong and see what she had planned.
When they arrived, Liu parked her car in a shopping mall lot and got out with Charlie. Charlie helped her by opening the trunk to grab her things.
At that moment, an all-black Rolls-Royce Cullinan pulled up in front of Liu’s Tesla. The driver’s window rolled down, revealing a boy in a suit with slicked-back hair. He looked surprised and said, “Manqiong, aren’t you supposed to be here tomorrow? Why are you here now?”
Liu Manqiong frowned slightly and replied, “What…”
“What are you doing here?” Liu Manqiong asked.
The young man smiled and replied, “I heard that Hong Kong University is having a charity sale, so I thought I’d come and join. I found out you’re coming tomorrow, so I wanted to be subtle and came early today. I didn’t expect to run into you!”
Liu Manqiong raised an eyebrow. “How did you know I was coming tomorrow?”
The young man, Zhong Shao, explained, “I happened to walk by this place at noon and saw your school badge and some volunteers from Hong Kong University. I asked them about the charity sale, and they told me you would be here tomorrow. Since I’m not really one to make a fuss, I thought I’d go home and grab a few watches to donate before your arrival. What a coincidence, right?”
He then quickly added, “Oh, by the way, Manqiong, to support your charity sale, I brought a few Patek Philippe and Rolex watches as a donation. There are two Nautilus and three Daytonas. Their total value is almost four million.”
Liu Manqiong’s expression turned serious. “I appreciate your generosity, Young Master Zhong, but we are only selling small personal items for charity here, with a price limit of 10,000 Hong Kong dollars. Your items are too valuable and wouldn’t sell well in this setting. Thank you for understanding.”
Zhong Shao waved his hand dismissively. “That’s okay! Even though the watches are worth over four million, I can sell them for three million. That’s a good price, and I’m sure they’ll sell quickly.”
With a playful wink, he added, “I’m just here to cheer for you, the famous Liu Manqiong!”
Liu Manqiong organized a charity sale to make charity more accessible and encourage more people to get involved. She wanted to keep the focus on ordinary items, believing that adding valuable goods could discourage regular people from participating.
Zhong Shao quickly offered, “Manqiong, if you think that’s not a good idea, I can just donate money. How about ten million Hong Kong dollars?”
Liu Manqiong replied, “That’s perfectly fine. Our charity foundation has a notarized account. You can send the money directly there and choose whether you want to donate anonymously or with your name. If you donate anonymously, we’ll thank the citizens who contributed. If you use your name, we’ll include it on the donation list.”
She added, “But since you prefer to stay low-key, I think an anonymous donation would suit you better.”
Zhong Shao’s face fell. He had planned to showcase a few valuable watches today while Liu Manqiong was away. He thought this would impress the volunteers and draw attention, hoping to gain some influence over Liu Manqiong later.
