- The Amazing Son-in-Law [The Charismatic Charlie Wade] (Chinese name) Chapter: 4767
Charlie Wade watched as Lao Mo drove into a rundown fishing village. Trying to act casual, he turned to the young man in the passenger seat and asked, “Hey, aren’t we headed to Ensenada? Why are we stopping here? Are we getting gas?”
The young man replied nonchalantly, “Our tank is almost empty. This village has smuggled oil, and it’s cheap. We’ll fill up here and then head to Ensenada. It’s only about 20 minutes away after we refuel.”
He stretched and added, “I was up late playing cards with some locals until after three. I’m really tired. Once I drop you off, I can finally catch some sleep!”
With that, the pickup truck drove into a yard surrounded by houses.
Charlie glanced at Lang Hongjun, who looked increasingly anxious. He tried to reassure him, saying, “Relax, brother. It’s just to lighten the mood. Everything is fine.”
Just then, the truck came to a stop. Seven or eight muscular men emerged from the nearby houses. They were all brown-skinned Mexicans with tattoos and wore pointed-toe shoes. Most alarmingly, each of them held a pistol.
Seeing the group approaching, Lang Hongjun asked nervously, “What are they doing?!”
The young man in the passenger seat grinned, pulled a gun from under his seat, and aimed it at Lang Hongjun. He said coldly, “What do you think? Get out of the car! If you try to run, I’ll shoot him!”
As soon as he finished speaking, the burly men moved closer.
Outside, two men opened the rear doors of the car. They pointed their guns at Charlie Wade and Lang Hongjun inside, shouting excitedly.
Charlie couldn’t understand Spanish and found their yelling really annoying. He quickly put his hands on his head and shouted, “Please, don’t shoot! You just want money, right? I have over a thousand dollars in my pocket! You can take it all! If that’s not enough, I’ll give you my suitcase too!”
One of the young men snapped back, “What are you talking about? I told you to get out of the car! Don’t you understand?”
Charlie replied quickly, “I understand, I understand!” Then, he got out of the car.
As soon as he stepped out, two strong men grabbed him, holding him on either side. They tied his wrists behind his back with nylon ties that were about an inch wide. These ties were very strong. Normally, once someone’s hands are bound like this, it’s nearly impossible to break free—even if they struggled hard.
The ties had a one-way buckle, meaning they would only get tighter. Criminals liked to use these because they were reliable for keeping victims restrained. According to their experience, no one had ever managed to escape from these ties.
After they finished tying Charlie, they pulled Lang Hongjun out of the car next. Lang tried to fight back, but the men quickly pushed him to the ground and secured his hands with the same nylon ties. As he hit the ground, he got a mouthful of dirt and ended up vomiting.
A man coughed and said hoarsely, “Bah, bah, what are you doing?! You’ve kidnapped a broke guy like me, which is completely pointless. Honestly, besides wasting food, I’m not good for anything!”
The young man stepped closer, squatted down, and gently tapped Lang Hongjun’s face with the barrel of his gun. With a smile, he replied, “Brother, don’t underestimate yourself. You’re actually quite useful!”
